I just bought a brand new laptop. And it came with the Microsoft Office Starter (English), and after a few days of using it a window suddenly appeared which asked me to upgrade the Microsoft Office Starter. And I clicked 'Yes'. After a long time of waiting. I noticed that my internet went slow, so I searched which process is using the most of my internet and I saw the "sftlist.exe". I was so annoyed that I searched on how to delete it, until I opened the Command Prompt, and typed "sc delete "sftlist"". Then I made a searched on what does that process do. And I learned that it is a Windows process! So, I remembered the update I made earlier, and tried running MS Word Starter 2010 but it didn't open! And it came to my mind that some Windows programs may not function well, and even my system could suffer! :((

So, my questions are:

1. What can happen to my laptop when I deleted the "sftlist.exe"?
2. What essential programs and processes can go bad when I deleted it?
3. And if anything goes wrong. Is there a safe way to download or install again the "sftlist.exe"?

Please answer me with words and instructions that I can easily follow. I don't want to make harm to my laptop, because it's just brandnew. :(

If you want to experiment, make an image of your system first. Then you always have a safe fallback.

I think nobody really knows what will happen in your system when you delete this process. Only trying it out will tell.

there,
I do not have such a file on my disk.

Now, first let's try running the system file checker.

Go to an elevated command prompt, enter following and press enter:

SFC /SCANNOW

What message appears on the screen?

Go To an Elevated Command Prompt

Elevated command prompt = Run CMD.EXE as administrator
WIN | type CMD.EXE | do not hit Enter |
CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER keycombo| YES

WIN is the key with the Microsoft flag on top.
