Is Norton Internet Security 2009 compatible?

I just went to look at how large that hard drive was (ESS took 5 hours) and guess what I saw. A certain person who shall remain nameless hasnt filled in hi system specs. You know the ones in the lower left corner <g>

To answer your question as put in the title; Norton may very well be compatible, but it, by virtue of its namesake, is something one should never install on any OS.

So yeah, I've used the NIS 2010 Beta, it's fairly reliable. Nothing really new worth talking about.

The main thing I'm looking for is the Microsoft Security Essentials, whenever it goes public. I've been following Security Now, and they seem to like it, and it has positive reviews wherever I look. Free security from now to forever, good stuff.

....Did a test with NOD32 yesterday.
What a horrible AV.
You can read my findings here:

Greetz

not fair to call NOD32 "horrible". On my laptop it out performs every other av software on the market. The memory usage you seemed to suffer is an isolated incident as for me, it uses nowhere near the amount of resources you are claiming. And I'm sure others here would agree.

It makes me laugh how people get when talking about av software. If you diss the one they use, they defend it as if they had written it!! If the software you use works for you then so be it. I've used NOD32 for years and have never been infected. I've tried others (including norton) but they are obtrusive, resource hogging and not as effective. But I don't care what others use. And as far as Virus Bulletin goes, I would take a lot more notice of their tests than I would of the tests of a single user on these forums

Good to hear.

From what I've seen in my brief visit to the norton forum, is that a lot of people were having problems with the patch.
But it's impossible to say how many people don't have issues because they won't complain on the forum. :D

I guess we got lucky here then but tbh I did clean installs last week and there was no patch since then. I use their Setup DM tool and it downloads the latest version directly. Maybe that made a difference instead of installing the usual trial version and patching that?
Either way I've been running 09 for about six months now and its been flawless on Vista and 7. I only went for it after reading the PC Mag review and I have not regret it since

Edit- Btw, you guys should not judge things by their past. Saying NIS 2009 suxs because previous versions did is not right. If you try it and still hate it then its all good but you will miss out on many good things in life thinking that way. For example we all know Hyundai cars sucked forever but should that hold one back from at least checking out their awesome new Genesis Coupe?;)

Yo man, it works 100%.
Just install it like you would on Vista, enter your serial and let it update.
After update, let it reboot (if it ask) and BAM your done!
Remember, the updates were RECENT.
