Is there a way to customize to search box?

I know the search option in Windows 7 is on a totally new level compared to the old one in Windows XP, but still I would like to customize it to my needs as I use it all the time.

One problem that I've noticed is that sometimes, if you know that a certain files is inside a certain folder, and you just don't want to manually sort through every file in that folder to find the one you are looking for, you can't find it by typing the name of the file from the search box near the start button but to search from within the containing folder.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

You can adjust you Search options to be like below so that it should show up in the search results from the Start Menu search box.



If you use the index, then you can also add the folder location to have it's contents show up in search results.

What are "indexed locations"?

Index locations are basically just folders that you have added to be included in search results when searching using the index.

Instead of doing full searches of the entire computer, the index allows searches to only be done from within the added index locations instead. This will give you faster search results, but it may not always be as accurate if the index has not finished updating yet from any changes that were made in the added index locations. This is why some people "don't use the index" (folder options) for accurate search results, but a bit slower getting them.
