Is Windows 10 a worthy upgrade yet?

Hello everyone!

Windows 10 has made great strides from its initial wonky launch, and now it's preparing for the Creators Update, which brings new basic functionality in terms of privacy, updates, etc.

I'm not planning to let Windows 7 go too soon since it's a solid OS that lets me tweak it to my preferences (unlike we know who, still), but I am curious if the latest moves Microsoft made with W10 impressed the enthusiasts/experts of the forum and made them rethink W10's position compared with the rock hard Windows 7.

So I'll reiterate: Is Windows 10 a worthy upgrade yet? Or should we wait and see how things develop further (Redstone 2 update, no more free major updates maybe, etc?)

Can't wait to hear some proper opinions. Big fan of the forums and constant lurker.

All the best!

Probably depends on your applications and Hardware.

There are those that hate Win 10 and those of us that have embraced and used it.

I had dual boot Win 7/Win 10 for about a year. After about the first two months, I rarely used Win 7. My main application is my recording studio and Win 10 has improvements for audio recording, such as lower audio latency. Thus for my applications, Win 10 is better.

I use W10 at work, but W7 at home exclusively, though I have the option to dual boot.

I find that W10 to be a little quirky, and the constant updates keep breaking things (Excel, Outlook, Thunderbird, CAD/CAM software that I use... etc.), but over all it isn't that bad. It seems to be pretty snappy and fast. There are a few things that happen every once in a while, like folders forgetting settings, files not copying properly to their destinations... but if you can put up with those things, one could upgrade, I suppose. MS will eventually fix them.

I may explore Win10 for music recording in my studio. I like the idea of lower latency. I'm using W7 for it now, but if W10 has lower latency, I think I might have to convert. At least part time. :)

I tried win10 for a month and will not be going back soon. Its like driving a car with a couple three-year olds constantly grabbing the wheel. And you lose your settings randomly. I could live with it if I really had to, but see zero reason to. But if the most important thing to you is cutting 4 seconds off your boot time, then its the only way to go.
