Now while banged up in hospital here my son brought in a series DVD set for me to watch on the laptop. Now it plays fine and I know how to hide the taskbar and the top menu bar but I cannot find a way to hide the playback controls see pic.
It seems to me that you can either or - taskbar showing or the playback showing but not both.

Hi John,
Sorry to hear about your injury and hope you are doing and recovering well
Now, for my usual useless/ignorant posts/questions
I thought WLM means Windows Live Mail
I didn't know WLM can play DVD's
I never used WLM to play DVD's, and i don't have WLM anymore
Do you perhaps mean WMP (Windows Media Player) or WMC (Windows Media Center) ?

He he that's what being cooped up in a very boring spot with a very sore hip does for you David - I did mean WMP of course
Jack I played something again last night and I think what you said about moving the cursor off to the right must have been something to do with it as I left the thing to play and before I had even realised it the playback bar had gone and yes it came back with a touch of the mouse. I shall try again tonight though it is my last DVD
