The scan is going now. But I need some advise as to which Antivirus program that I could use to install on my PC's. The one that we are working on is for a family member. But I have three other PC's, (2 win 7, and 1 win 8).

@Jacee,

So far the scan has been running for almost an hour and a half. and its at 24%...

ESET is a very good suggestion and a good online scan, however, there are toolbars and other stuff/junk in that system, that may be d-r-a-g-g-i-n-g down the program.

Do you think it might be best to run AdwCleaner and Junkware Remover first, and then give ESET a whirl?

If you think its best, then I will do it. But I can let this PC run over night and see what happens tomorrow.

GilV37,

It is up to you whether you wish to let it run for a long while. It is a good scanner, and even after removing all sorts of other stuff, it may take a while.

In any event, and if you wish to let ESET run, the AdwCleaner, and Junkware Remover programs would be my next recommendation.

However you need to install an AntiVirus program, for sure!!!

MSE is a good choice. I use it also.

Already downloaded it, and going to install that tomorrow. I think I'm going to call it a night, and continue tomorrow evening. Around 6:00 EST. Once I get a report on this scan, I will post it.

Thanks

Yes cottonball. Sometimes with adware and re-direction (because of it), our AdwCleaner is now focusing on another adware called "Reimage" ... getting people to download that and pay for it!!
I've alerted Grinler at Bleeping ;)

@Jacee,

Guess they want some money to support the program...I'm currently on Windows 8, and can't seem to get it going there.

@GilV37,

Please beware, and do not install ReImage when you run the setup.

No, no.... it's a pop-up ad that should not be allowed to run! But, people who already are infected with adware, will see it.

The author of the tool and Grinler were/are not aware of it, so I've alerted them about it! It's not a fault of the site or the direct download ... it's a re-direction ad from the already infected computer!

This may, or may not have happened here...since the system may still be infected with some adware.
GilV37 already downloaded the program, if I understood him correctly.

So, if you get the redirection, do not byte into it. Will it be possible to download AdwCleaner at all, or you would have to do so on a clean computer, and bring it over to the infected one on a flash drive?
