Issues with Outlook 2010

I have been using Yahoo Mail PLus and Gmail, plus an e-mail I just set up for my new website. I have several user ID's under my yahoo account, plus many separate folders (also in gmail).

I just purchased Outlook2010, and when I imported my yahoo account over, I don't think it brought over my other e-mail addresses, and I know it didn't bring over my folders.

I was using Windows Live Mail sporadically, but wanted Outlook for my business, as I used it in the past. However, this was when I was working for a company, and was on their network and we had IT specialists to set everything up!

I'm fairly computer savvy, but e-mail accounts, POP, IMAP, etc throw me for a loop.

Thanks for any help you can give me, and I apologize if this is not the correct forum for my question.

No luck with Yahoo to Outlook

I tried following the instructions, but was unsuccessful in my attempt. I'm sure part of it is due to my lack of knowledge. I verified that I am on Yahoo Plus, then tried to follow the steps given. I could enter the POP and SMTP addresses, but there is no place for the SSL and ports.

Also, I have several different e-mail addresses on Yahoo. Do I have to follow this step for each one?

Thanks for all the help.

It will tell you where to enter the settings, including SSL and Port #s.

I do not use Outlook, I can't answer the question about multiple Yahoo accounts.
I'll do some searching. Maybe some one else will come along and answer this question before I come up with an answer.

Answer : Yes. Repeat the same procedures, same settings, same SSL, same Port#s, EXCEPT you enter different e-mail address on each account.

Yahoo PLus to Outlook 2010

Thanks for the help everyone. However, I cannot get this to work. I am getting a variety of error messages when I check the settings, sometimes the incoming works but the test e-mail doesn't.

My inclination at this point is just to return the Outllook and use Windows Live Mail, which I really dislike as a mail program, since I wanted something more professional.

The other alternative is to find a local computer store who can help me.

Thanks anyway.

" return " as in " return the software " to the retail store ?
I don't think you can do that. Can you really ?

It would be a whole lot easier to have a person by your side to help you setting up the account.
You've paid for the Outlook. Don't give it up.

I don't use Outlook. Otherwise, I can give you step by step in screenshots format.

Sorry I can't be of any help to you.

returning Outlook 2010

I actually bought the software through the MS online store. They did agree to refund my money, as long as I promised (which I have done), to uninstall the software. However, you're correct, the retail stores generally won't give a refund.

I've decided to use Windows Live Mail instead, although I don't really like it.

I just don't have the savvy to deal with some of the more complex issues, and don't really have anyone who is more computer savvy than I am to ask for one-on-one help.

However, I have found that SevenForums is able to answer many of my questions, and I have been able to resolve quite a few issues by visiting, so I will continue to use this as a resource.

Thanks again.

You are lucky to be able to get refund.

In the event you have questions about Windows Live Mail, make sure you specify which version, 2011 or 2009 versions.

You'll grow to like it.
It suites you particularly well since you have multiple accounts. WLM will give you separate Inbox, Sent Items etc etc for each account, and it will download mails to appropriate accounts automatically.

I am using 2011 version. I'll be glad to help whenever.

I had Live Mail 2011 set up, but hadn't been using it much, so now I'm trying to get back up to speed, since Outlook 2010 did not work out for me.

Is there a way that I can import the additional folders from Yahoo and Gmail into Windows Live mail? I have my e-mails separated into several folders in each account, and would like to get the history into WLM 2011.

Thanks again for your assistance.

I am sorry, I don't have answer for that.
If I remember correctly, you cannot export/import mail folders. But, I could be wrong.
