I've had this problem for a while now, but have only just gotten round to asking for help.

Everytime I start up iTunes from the desktop, a box pops up telling me it has stopped working, and asks me if I'd like to "Check online for a solution and close the program", or "Close the program".

The problem details are below.

I have been on numerous websites where numerous people have has the same or similar problems. Even the official Apple forums are the same.
I'm not sure if it's a Windows 7 issue alone or if it's happening with other OS. I never had this problem when I used to run Windows XP, but I don't want to go back because of this.

Are there any solutions?
I've tried all the usual uninstall, reinstall methods. I even used iTunes 7 and ran it in compatability mode for Windows XP SP2 and 3. Running as Administrator etc etc.

I do have Ace Mega Codecs Pack (latest). Could that cause a possible confliction and cause this error?

Thank you for any help given.

In my opinion go into your Itunes folder and copy your itunes library. (to make a back-up). I would then go ahead and uninstall iTunes from programs and features. Download itunes again from the apple website for free.

Apple - iTunes - Download iTunes Now

once installed copy your library back into the itunes folder and you will be all set like nothing has changed.
I hope this helps you.

Please give REP by clicking on the middle icon (Silver Scales) near the top right. :)

I'm afraid that didn't work mjwilson94.
I have already uninstalled and reinstalled both iTunes and Quicktime numerous times. It installs fine and trouble free. It only goes wrong when I go to start it up from the desktop icon.

It doesn't even open up. It just crashes right off the bat.

Thanks for the advice though.

Hi ninty07, Welcome to SF,

Did you try to Open i-Tunes as Administrator. Right Click on i-Tunes icon and Run as administrator. If that fails try to create a New User ( Administrator ) Login under that account then try it

Hope this helps,
Captain

I have tried running iTunes as Administrator before. I am also on the Administrator account anyway.
No luck.

Just tried your other suggestion Capt.Jack Sparrow to no avail.
But I really appreciate the suggestions.

I may just have to use iTunes on my brother's laptop otherwise. But it would be nice to get it working on my PC.

It's probably not working because it still has the same previous entries in your registry.

One other issue, when you uninstall you need to restart the PC before reinstalling. If you just uninstall and then reinstall without restarting the original problem can still be there.

I have ITunes 9.0.2.25 running without problems on my Win 7 64 bit system.

Hi,

You may also try these instructions in order:

► Just try these instructions:

1. Go to Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a program
2. "One by one" remove the Apple Mobile Device, Bonjour and iTunes programs
3. Reboot the machine
4. Use the iTunes setup package to install again (Right click, run as Administrator)
5. Reboot your PC
6. Sync (finally)
