I couldn't install it on 6801 (see my previous post) but since I installed Windows 7 build 7000 iTunes runs and installs without a problem. Just make sure you download the x64 version of 8.0.2

I am using build 7000 and have tried itunes 8.02 x64, but it still would not install. After some tinkering, I realized the following command run in command prompt (run as administrator) was all that was needed to allow itunes to install.
" reg delete HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SQMClient\Windows\DisabledSessions /va /f "

So far it seems to have fixed the problem, itunes installed and is running fine so far.

This has been the most significant issue I've had with any software so far, the only other software that I had issues with was Infrarecorder, a free dvd burner software, but the above command also fixed the installation issues I was having with that software.

Aside from this, everything else has installed fine as is, or via compatability mode. Heck, Ive got every game from Starcraft to Fallout 3 running just fine on here :geek:

The lastest version on Itunes installed easily on my Dell XPS M1210 with Windows 7. It was about the first thing i installed (before Avast antivirus even)

I have yet to get iTunes to install on my Windows 7 as well, and I'm on a 32bit OS/Proc. Tried compatibility and everything. At least my Zune works!

Hi Renthor,

I suppose you're using the most recent version from apple homepage. Which error do you get exactly?

Most recent version yes, and no error. The install just hangs after installing quicktime, and never gets to itunes. I've left it overnight, and it never completes.

Hmm. Strange. I installed it on two different machines (HP 8710p + my NoName Desktop) and it worked fine in both cases. I used the Windows Seven x64 Version, though.

No problem with installing itunes for me at all Windows 7.

The record functions are completely gone on my Asus XonarD2 sound card console but these things are to be expected with a Beta.

iTunes 8.0.2.20 installed happily for me, but failed to start on first attempt (with a numbered error message that I should have jotted down, but did not, thinking it would happen again. However, it started and ran fine on the second try).

An oddity I have since noticed is that even though I downloaded the 64 bit version, everything (program files folder, task manager, etc.) indicates that it's 32 bit (?)

Hi clfenwi,

you're right - haven't noticed that one up to now:

itunes.exe and ituneshelper.exe are both marked "*32" in Taskmanager, the services "AppleMobileDeviceService" and "iPodService" are 32bit as well.

Funny thing ;-)

I get a lot of timeout errors downloading podcasts and the latest update for my iTouch. I'm kinda left to brute-force it until it finally goes through.
