Jpeg issues

Hi, Have just recovered some pictures using file recovery software but I am unable to view any of them.The windows viewer says they are the wrong file format but they seem to be jpeg as far as I can tell, Does anyone have any ideas?

They are probably corrupted. Were they jpgs before?

can you open them with Paint? - if yes, you can change the file extension. And how did you recover them? If they are still in one of your restore points, you can recover them cleanly with Shadow Explorer ( http://www.shadowexplorer.com/ ).

Hi,Yes they were jpg before. I recovered them using seagate recovery software which sent them to 'my pictures' folder,and no, they do not open in paint either,it says it is not a bitmap file?

did you try Shadow Explorer? If you have a restore point from before you lost the pics, then you can recover them for sure.

You can try whs's solution, but I agree with Jonathan that they're corrupted.

Earlier this year I made a video tutorial on how to deal with Shadow Explorer - just in case you want to consult it.
