Jumplists - how does frequent and recent work?

Am i right in saying that only when you access a file (like playing a movie in a folder) that the containing folder shows up in the recent part of the jumplist?

Also i dont seem to have any frequent list in explorer on the taskbar why is this?

Hi rezelute,

You are correct about the containing folders. As for your missing Frequent list in Explorer's Jump List - please make sure you didn't disable this accidentally:

What you mentioned does clear things up abit, someone also mentioned to me that since i have just recently installed Windows 7 it might not be picking up frequently accessed directories just yet so im guessing for now that this is the cause.
And yes i did clear my recent jumplist using the link you posted but i re-enabled and lost my prior recent folders but its not so bad.
What had me confused was that i thought a frequent list should always show up even if i had been through to one folder and then that folder would get replaced by another most frequent.
