I just got an Asus M4A785-M mobo because my original mobo fried which is now being RMA'd back to Asus so they can send me a new one. However, the mobo I now have installed fine (i didnt reformat my HD when i installed this new mobo) but after trying new and old drivers, ALL windows updates and soooo much more, my desktop screen flickers and flashes especially when I move my mouse around and when I hover over my quicklaunch icons, and folders etc.., they disappear then reappear sometimes.

What I just found out online was this link ATI CrossFireX which talks about the Hybrid CrossfireX. This mobo has that and I think that is whats causing this flickering stuff to happen. I'm looking for a way to disable all onboard video (HDMI and VGA) so that it might fix the issue. Or, if there's a way to "enable" this Hybrid CrossfireX and have it actually work correctly with my video card. It states on that website in the link I posted above that it's compatible only with windows vista pc's..?!??! Could this be the issue? Because I run Win7 Ultimate 64-bit, but ON the mobo box it says "windows 7 ready" so I'm really wanting this to be fixed because I'm about to reformat and I'd rather not.

Please post any help if you can.

Thanks,
James

I'd start with disabling CrossFireX and see if this solves the problem, I don't think it will though. Once you establish it has/has not resolved then post your results here. There is no reason whatsoever to reformat your hard drive so don't do this, it is more than likely a tweak in your BIOS or perhaps a little work with your ATi drivers but this issue is fixable.

Simple driver issue.. no need to reload OS... you may need to run the vista driver in compatibility mode as worst case scenario. I have seen this alot with Graphics Drivers and Win 7.

Yea but I've never had this issue until now with this temp new mono, I tried new and old drivers but I didn't try bios update yet. If u look on you tube and search "screen flickers" or flashes u can see how annoying it is but mine it's super worse lol. God I hope it's not my CPU. I got a tiny tiny spec of thermal on 1 of the gold pins but I got most of it off. This is very frustrating.

If u live in the Tampa, FL area let me know lol. Thx

I tried everything, I even cleaned my CPU pins, safely, and after seating CPU back in the problem still persists. I'm upset, if any of u have a compatible CPU that I can buy cheap or even borrow plz let me know. Thx very much :(
