Is anyone else out there running Kapersky for Win7 as their anti-virus?

I've been running it since day one of installing Win7 - it is probably the most robust security app i've used for a Windows operating system, but it has been a bit of a pain to configure it to allow/disallow certain services.

-Remote desktop was a huge pain to get working; I could get it working on my LAN, and I even had remote access to my router, but couldn't get Kapersky to let me through. Finally I found a post with details about separating inbound and outbound rules and now it's working.

-Despite going into the settings to set it to scan when i'm not using the system, it likes to scan my entire system every time I boot.

Has anyone else had a more positive experience with another Win7 compatible provider?

Kaspersky?....ufff...

I've been using NOD till 2 years ago,and till then I'm in happy marriage with Avast Professional.
After I read a bunch of articles with very good ratings,I've happily installed Kaspersky IS 2009 maybe a week ago,but when I actually saw a "thing" which I was suposed to handle,my joy fade away.Kaspersky was so huge in every way,and after it detected every single .exe file as a malware  ,I've reinstall back my one and only, simple, confident and REALLY effective Avast Pro.

I have Kaspersky on one XPS 420 and it seems to work great and I like the interface. Put it on the other 420 and wouldn't work. Constantly locked everything up. So I uninstalled and tried Norton 360 beta. That seems to work pretty good. So now what? They both work kinda good and they both don't work at all. I'll probably go back to Avast or AVG free..... or try NOD 32.

There seems to be a problem with their Beta update server today (14/02/2009), and it is causing the databases to roll back to their original state as included with the original program download.

Just upgraded to the latest release of Kaspersky - see links below. Still the same problem about updating, however some of the posts on their forum point out that the Beta update servers don't always update at weekends.

Note that you will need to completely uninstall the version that you have installed before you can upgrade to the current version. The first link is to the build index to make it easier for you to locate the current build, whereas the second link is to the download itself. Note that the build index mentions 8.0.0.1072, however this version does not exist.

Index to builds: Index of /devbuilds/

Still not updating. As can be seen from the image below, the problem probably lies with the index/u0607g.xml.dif file.

Is anyone else out there running Kapersky for Win7 as their anti-virus?

I've been running it since day one of installing Win7 - it is probably the most robust security app i've used for a Windows operating system, but it has been a bit of a pain to configure it to allow/disallow certain services.

-Despite going into the settings to set it to scan when i'm not using the system, it likes to scan my entire system every time I boot.

Has anyone else had a more positive experience with another Win7 compatible provider?

Tried it, did not like it, got rid of it. It caused problems installing, then froze while scanning and seemed to have a mind of its own because even though I disabled scan after boot it continued to do so. Not only that but it took up a whopping 30 odd mb of ram. Not acceptable. So it got a size nine.

I have been using Kaspersky 2009 for a long time now, I have no problems with either Vista or Windows 7. KIS is running perfectly. :)

I tried the beta when it came out. It didn't work at the time, and seems to be having problems still. So I would advise against installing it.
