Ok im new to this site and already like the feel of it. :D

So, as the Title explains i keep getting 'checker.exe' running in ''Task Manager'' on my Windows 7 Ultimate x64 PC, if you require further specs please inform me.

I cannot seen to track down where its coming from, but i know when its running because i hear the windows 7 ''Ding.wav'' and i immediately go to ''Task Manager'' and its there, so i right-click and choose ''Open File Location''. Its always in my ''C:\Users\****\AppData\Local\Temp' along with a list of .dll's and .txt files :( so i always delete the directory and its stops for a while, then after an hour or so it comes back and its always got a different name.

I do myself more than able to fix almost any hardware or software related issues but this just hove got the best of me as i have built all my own computers and never really needed an Anti-Virus, i just usually stick to ''Live Essentials''.

I found the following info about checker:

checker.exe is a process belonging to the WashAndGo cleanup utility. Note: checker.exe is also a process which is registered as the Fourseman.c Worm. "This virus is distributed via the Internet through e-mail and comes in the form of an e-mail message, in the hopes that you open its hostile attachment. " The worm has its own SMTP engine which means it gathers E-mails from your local computer and re-distributes itself. "In worst cases this worm can allow attackers to access your computer, stealing passwords and personal data. "

Information about W32.Fourseman.C. The site also has removal instructions.

Might be a good idea to run Windows Defender Offline or Malwarebytes to see what they come up with....

Note: Be sure to d/l WDO on a clean computer.

Good deal. Glad we could help. Make sure to keep a close eye on your system for unusual behavior since viruses like to invite other viruses.

Other tools you may wish to add to your arsenal of defenses is TDSSKiller (Anti rootkit utility) & Norton Power Eraser.
(Be sure to read the documentation on both of these tools)
