Hey guys, I havnt posted here in a long time, but I decided I couldn't take regular customer support haha.

So I recently bought a n52te for gaming for my (windows 7) machine. I installed its drivers, plugged it in, worked great :D I loved it!

Then after a reboot, both my regular keyboard (Razer Lycosa Mirror) and the n52te don't work in games only. But its ONLY when using the WASD keys to move around, if I go to chat in game, the keyboard works fine. Just using the WASD keys doesn't work, unless I tap the space bar, that usually makes you up, and if it doesn't make you jump, the WASD keys work again. the other keys on the keyboard, n52te and Lycosa, work such as the c, v, e, q, z, x, and many others.

If your confused, (like me) the WASD keys don't make you move even though they should, until you hit the space bar, then they (WASD keys) work until they get stuck moving me. I then have to press the key that moves me in the direction. ex. stuck going left, I have to hit the D key, then the space bar to be able to move again. But I can type just fine in games.

Also this problem only occurs in games, no other applications. It seems to happen where a key is needed to be pressed, but does not type a letter (Flash games, Crysis, Various other games) But it works fine in a browser, or other writing app. to type

I have tried the following all with rebooting in between each try: (not in order)
reinstall drivers
uninstall drivers
unplug, restart, plug in (let windows find its drivers)
use on another comp. (it worked, its NOT the keyboard)
use a different keyboard on my comp. This produced the keyboard.
Only using one keyboard/input device at a time.

Notes:
customer support sucks.
and the problem happens on both my razer lycosa and my n52te

If you need any further details just ask! Thank you W7 community!

I am havin this same problem for the past couple of weeks. At first I thought it was a lag issue, but I'm pretty certain it isn't, as this problem appeared over night after several weeks of working properly.

Can't seem to find the answer anywhere. Is happening in Battlefield 2 and Operation Flashpoint GOTY edition.

As above, the problem only surfaces in game, not in any other app. that requires keyboard input.

So are you having the problem as to where it only happens in games too? mine seems to work fine when TYPING in games, but when using the WASD keys to, they tend to get suck, but not physically suck down. But the WASD keys work fine when typing to my team. Is this the same with you?
seems to be something about how the keys are registered. Like if you press a key to type a letter it works, but if you press a key to move, it doesn't work. But most of the other keys around the WASD keys work.

This is NOT keyboard related, but computer related. I might try using the windows repair disk that I got to install W7 on my machine when I built it a while ago.

Have/If you find any other information on this, please keep me updated! I have not found anyone else with the same problem. Thank you!

Fixed!!!!

Fixed this problem.

Was a key logger running in the background services.
Look in the services or msconfig menus. Mine was a key logger called Desktop Shark (dskl.exe or dslk.exe).
Disabled it and problem gone away! :)

Further to my last post: If it's not a key logger doing it to your games then try this....

  1. Download this free registry cleaner: Advanced Systemcare Free 3
  2. Install
  3. When you run the software you will see there is a tab/menu that contains loads of handy little tools for tweaking your system's performance. One of these tools is called Game Booster.
  4. Activate Game Booster. It will scan all your background services that are not required for playing your particular game. Very handy if your not sure which services are the troublemakers.
  5. Play games... Great
This is obviously a quick fix, but works nonetheless. I do suggest making the time to go through your services and googling the hell out of them to see if you actually require them though.

Good Luck

I tried the game booster thing, I didn't solve the problem, I also can't drag items on the wallpaper of my computer. Other places I can drag items though. Also today it is very laggy while typing on facebook chat, this post is fine though. Not sure how relevant that is though.

Also, is there anyone I can email or ask for help with this? I have not googled all my services yet, I have a lot of school work being a freshman in HS. But I'm guessing I might not find a service that's creating this problem because wasn't that what the game booster was supposed to automatically do? I know a manual search is more in depth though.

The gamebooster will disable a lot of services to minimise as many processes running as it can. Its not necessarily gonna get them all though. Sounds like you will have to google that list, sorry. If I find anything new on the matter I will be sure to post here.

Hey guys...
Was having the same problem. The n52te not working in games and my G-15 also but worked out side of games. Hex brought up a good point about a kelogger but my problem was a program called Constant Guard™ that was bundled with Nortons. The program has keylogging protection with it that was obviously causing the problem. In game it might have seen this as a threat and radomized the keys making keymapping and login to the game a problem among other things. So uninstalled it and everything was back to normal. So I recommend looking into you might have a keylogger or a protection program interfering.
Hope this helps.

I'm getting this problem in every Flash game that uses WASD or the arrow keys, they don't work AT ALL.
I can't seem to find a keylogger, nor Constand Guard either.
Any help on that?

PROBLEM FIX - STEPS TO TAKE TO SOLVE KEYBOARD AND/OR MOUSE PROBLEMS:
1. Run a virus scan with Microsoft Security Essentials or your choice of Anti-Virus

2. If a keylogger is installed on your computer, uninstall it.

3. Check if problem is solved in your respective game(s).

4. If not, look for GuardedID and Constant Guard in your installed programs. (If neither of these are present, skip to step 5) If it is present, you have Comcast Constant Guard installed. Uninstall either GuardedID individually, or the entire Comcast Constant Guards suite. Follow reboot instructions, then check if problem is fixed in your game.

5. If you find neither a keylogger nor GuardedID installed on your PC, go find and download an official copy of Comcast Constant Guard. (Only if your ISP is Comcast will these next steps work, as you need to be connected to the Comcast network to use Constant Guard.)

6. Completely install Comcast Constant Guard, though don't allow it your personal info unless you plan on actually using this program. It will ask to reboot your computer to complete installation. Follow those directions.

7. After reboot, find Constant Guard in your installed programs, and completely uninstall it. It will ask to reboot your computer again; allow it.

8. Your problem should now be fixed.

I have had this problem off and on for awhile now, affecting games that I play. The mouse movement was screwed up in Minecraft and BOTH Portal games, while my WASD keys refused to work in all three Mass Effect games, and also Tribes: Ascend. I had spent a VERY long time trying to solve the problem using things like Ccleaner to clean my pc, registry fixes, reinstalling keyboard/mouse drivers, uninstalling programs I don't use, and the like. Then, after I read something somewhere about how uninstalling Constant Guard would solve it, I checked if that program was installed. It wasn't. After trying out a few other ideas for solutions, I decided 'what the heck? how about I just install it, and THEN uninstall it?' And by golly IT WORKED! It still upsets me that I can't figure out the specific problem that was causing this to happen, but I'm glad to be able to play my games again.

NOTE: I realize that having to fulling install a program, reboot your pc, uninstall, and reboot again is a very lengthy task. But this is the only way that I have figured out to solve this problem, if someone figures out a better way, please post it!

Anybody found a working solution for this???

Got no net lag, constant 125fps and mouse input is fine.

Will be removing win 7 if It persists and will not buy further versions of windows until I know it is fixed.

Simple fix

This fix is time consuming but useful as a last resort.
The problem can be caused by any program that interacts with your keyboard, not just key loggers which is why virus scanners do not always pick it up. To find out which process is causing the problem you will have to test each one by ending it in task manager.

1. Open task manager.
2. End the first 10 background processes, then try to play the game.
3. Repeat step two Until the game is playable. You have now narrowed down the offending process.
4. Restart the computer.
5. End the last 10 processes that you previously ended individually, testing the keyboard in game after each one.
6. You have now identified which processes has caused the problem. You can now delete its program, or end it each time you want to play games.

Good luck :)
