Lack of Windows Updates causing BSOD's

I am being helped in the (BSOD Forum- http://www.sevenforums.com/bsod-hel...bsod-new-system-build-unresolved-weeks-3.html), and have been instructed to post here to get help in Updating my operating system (OS).

I am currently running Windows Professional 'N' x64 SP1 because that is the only operating system they had in my local store at the time. I have since gone and purchased Win 7 Pro.

I am having problems activating my copy of Windows Pro N because i live in a very remote area of the world called Guernsey in the channel islands Uk...I try inserting my license key off of my box and it tells me to enter another key.

I followed posting rules and when trying to run SURT i get an error message:

Installer encountered an error: 0x8007000d
The data is invalid

I have tried downloading it 3 times...same every time!

I have ran sfc /scannow as you may see in the link above and all is ok.

I am just going to log out of safemode now so i can get my error codes and do steps 3 and 4

What "box" are your talking about? I've never seen the key displayed on a box. That's probably the product ID. The key is always inside the disc case on a slip of paper and on the Certificate of Authenticity (COA) sticker supplied with the disc. The COA sticker is the holographic label that should be affixed to the machine. You may have entered the Product ID instead of the Key.

Hi i thought it was rather strange too but it was definitely the product key.. I've been a hardware tech for 15 years

Now you have found the product key, have you found the COA as described by carwiz. Did it work for you and are you activated?

Hi guys i have just done a fresh install of Windows 7 pro and i am now fully activated. The only things I have done since the fresh install are:

1. Installed MSE
2. Installed Chrome
3. Installed Winrar
4. Disabled Ethernet controller and installed wifi dongle
5. Activated Windows
6. Installed ALL Windows updates (in progress)

I thought a fresh start would be a good idea

Things are looking good for you.
After all the installs are done I like to do a defrag on my system. Kind of starting off with everything lined up.

The 8007000d error is an interesting one - let's have a look at it in couple of slightly different ways...


Please follow this tutorial and post an MGADiag report - then we can see what the problem is.

Ignore errors produced when clicking on the Copy button - they simply mean that the tool could not create the backup files for some reason. The data is still copied to the clipboard for pasting to your response.

Please also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine (or inside the battery compartment), but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker!

Please download the Farbar Service Scanner from

Right-click on the saved file and select 'Run as Administrator', and tick all the options, then click on the Scan button - copy and paste the report to your response.
