laptop BSODs, several hours apart, unknown cause

This is technically my cousins laptop, but the whole family uses it. I was using it tonight with multiple IE windows open when it suddenly BSOD on me. I didn't see what the error number was or anything like that. I've found out that its done this twice earlier today. As far as know no new drivers, devices or even programs have been installed recently, so I'm worried it might be a virus. I've run a virus scan but nothing came up.

Any help would be appreciated and if you need more specific information please let me know.

Your dumps report two 0x100007E errors BSOD Index and one 0x116 error BSOD Index
All three are blaming your nVidia gfx drivers for the crash, have a read of this thread lots of good info there
IMO start with monitoring temperatures in your machine, if you havent already then install monitoring software something like speccy will do the trick and check your machine is not overheating, then you need to update your graphic drivers as the ones you have are not operating correctly

Update your graphics drivers to the latest ones, its best to uninstall old drivers then run http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/83814-drivers-clean-left-over-files-after-uninstalling.html then install new drivers from here Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers option 2 is easiest as will auto detect what you need.
Coincidentally nVidia are having a few problems with there latest drivers at the moment they have been causing lots of crashes lately so if after update you get further crashes give us the new dumps as per above so we can check them out as you may need to roll back one but cross that bridge when we come to it

Okay, I've done those things Paulie said to, and its crashed a few times since then, but not as frequently. Speccy shows its gets hotter than it should,so I used some compressed air and am being careful about that. However, at least some of the crashes it was running cool.

OK crashes are still being caused by nvidia drivers, as mentioned before the latest driver has been causing lots of crashes lately so if your happy the card is working ok i would remove driver, run the sweeper again to remove any leftovers then install the 306 driver, you will have to look in the "beta and older drivers" or "legacy product drivers" section of nvidia website drivers to find it, it will be dated from a few months before the latest one

okay, I did that stuff and installed the 306 driver, but then the computer wouldn't get to the log in screen before BSODing. Safemode worked and i uninstalled the 306 driver and now its working again. So right now theres no nvidea on it. Did I do something wrong?

I didn't botherr making a new dump, but will be happy to if it might help. In the mean time I'm going to use be using another computer.

When updating/changing graphics drivers its best to uninstall old drivers then run http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/83814-drivers-clean-left-over-files-after-uninstalling.html to clean out any leftover files as sometimes they can cause conflicts then install new drivers Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers

If you still get problems after trying this then post any new dumps generated we can have a look

I'm positive I did that, but I did it again after your post, and it looks like its working now. I'll let you know if its still working inn a week or so, or if it crashes again. Thank you

Sorry for the late reply, I haven't been using the computer enough to tell until recently. But it doesn't seem to be happening anymore, so thanks.

The computer just bluescreened again, and it turns out its done it a few times since I thought it was fixed, just not with me, so I didn't know. I looks to have only happened a few times, and it seems like its usually when the computer is beening woken up from hibernation.

First you can see the actual driver reports to not be loaded properly, this can sometimes indicate a problem with the driver not being installed properly or is not compatible on some level

The last part you can see tells us the driver is dated from oct 2012 so is not the latest, the problematic one was dated around dec 12/jan 13 but i believe that has now been superceded so it may be worth trying one last update as before

Failing that some manufacturers make custom modded drivers for there machines (dell for eg) so may be worth checking into this also

Lastly you need to keep an eye on your temps for your gfx card as this could still be a hardware fault
