Reoccurring BSODs, unknown cause

Hello All, I am new to the site and would love some help with BSOD's I am getting. I realise the title is not the best, but I will do my best to explain my issue. Unfortunately it seems there is no consistency!

The Issue:
I cannot get the BSOD to occur under any specific circumstances. At first I believed it to be when the activating the laptop after it was idle for a while(to the point the screen turns off), this occurred a few times. I also noticed it could occur sometimes when my charging cable was removed suddenly. It has also happened to me when playing some games. Not game specific at all, rarely happens but frustrating when it does. The only common theme that occurs with each BSOD is it seems to mention the hard drive is not ready to access yet. I also had one scary black screen about a month ago where the laptop would not even turn on and said cannot boot a drive. I left it overnight and it turned straight on the next day with no issues. I have an Acer Aspire V3-571G and everything is standard.

What I know so far:
I do like to look into and try resolve things myself so have checked previous posts and advice. At first I thought the cause could be the fact I only had 30gb of space free, so I free'd up an extra 150gb but it still occurs. I have also performed memtest86 check(1 pass) on the RAM and it passed this with no errors. I have also used windows to check for updates and updated anything outdated. I have also performed system restores and disk cleanups but nothing has helped. My next move was to uninstall AVG as I checked my event view to see what was happening before the crashes, but the only thing I could seem to understand is it may be AVG causing the issue as it failed to load avgSnx (other than harddisk is not ready for access yet).

Before doing this however, I wanted to check the minidump files to see if they corresponded to AVG, and/or if there were further issues. I tried to download WDK but there was an issue and it would not install, and I decided I probably wouldnt understand most of what it was telling me anyways!

I have uploaded a zipped file from DM log as requested. My most recent minidump was from the 29/03 but I did get one yesterday (02/04). Any help is greatly appreciated! :p I feel its at the point where I need to resolve this as I no longer feel comfortable doing any serious work or gaming as it could happen mid session and cause me to throw the laptop :roflmao:

Hello,

Thanks for the advice. I followed the steps from method 1 and quickly realised that some settings do not match how the laptop behaves. In the power settings it says to put the laptop to sleep after 30 minutes of inactivity(whilst being plugged in), but my laptop never goes to sleep if its left on with the cable in so maybe there is some conflict there?

Also with regards to re-installing drivers, none have a yellow icon next to it so I have no idea which driver may be causing the issue, Is there any indication in the dump file? I have attached a picture of the USB drives installed. Which ones are standard and which have been added? I assume Intel are the computers drives and the USB ones are additional USBs I have added, and the composite one is for SD cards?

My guess is it would be one of the USB drives causing the issue as one of my USBs corrupted a while back. I also left an SD card in the slot for a while(month or so) and this corrupted as well. I think the SD card is what caused the Black screen I had about a month ago because it hasn't returned since removing, but the BSOD remains intermittent.

Hello,

I could really do with some help on this, another black screen occurred after just closing youtube. It said "Disk read error occurred, Pres Ctrl Alt Del to restart". After I did this it automatically when to start up repair.

With regards to the reinstalling drivers, the link you sent me describes how to uninstall them, but as I say I don't know which ones have been added and which are specific to the laptop. I know with USBs the driver gets automatically installed when plugging it in, but how would I go about reinstalling other drivers?

Thanks

First, set a system restore point.

Then uninstall/delete all the drivers in the Controllers tab (don't delete the tab).

Reboot. The drivers should reinstall automatically.

Thanks for the quick response!

So just to confirm, by controllers tab do you mean Storage controllers? (the drivers I have expanded in the picture I have attached)

No, I meant the Universal Serial Bus Controllers tab. Sorry I wasn't more clear.

Many thanks for all the help everyone.

I have uninstalled the USB drivers and restarted the computer and they re-installed automatically. Hopefully this will be the end of my BSOD's, failing that I will look further into the information Vineet has provided and report back with any further issues!
