Solved Laptop, default gateway drops

Hello,

At first, thanks for the input to help me. Friday i was updating/installing test server from World of Tanks. During the download of the test server (file of 7.5GB) i got twice a BSOD telling me the driver of the network caused the problem.

Of course, i was a bit surprised, though did have 2 BSOd's in past. One in april and one in may. The last fresh installation with keeping one partition is from february 2014 (along the olympic games). I have tried googling since the problem started and came further and further to most likely causes of the problem. Later on, friday evening, i did have a great connection between the modem and my laptop. After about 1,5 hour the problem appeared again. Saturday/Sunday seemed like the problem was only appearing for 2 minutes an hour with in meantime some 2-3 sec lagg a couple times.

In home there is a modem and a router, both providing a wifi-point. the one of the modem keeps disappearing, and sometimes the one of router as well. Since today i cannot even access the modem wifi anymore after using the troubleshooter. It is not visible all the time in my available wifi-connections and

BSOD:
- April, 1 was either the realtek audio driver or the network driver. Audio driver is updated after BSOD.
- May, 1 was either the realtek audio driver or the network driver.
- June, 2 times the network driver.
I found out what the problems exactly were, using WhoCrashed.

Connection:
- Wifi of router is available most of the time
- Wifi of modem is disappearing all the time
- Problems occured from Friday morning.

Checks:
- Network driver, i went to realtek website (MediaTek Inc. - MediaTek), though got no idea about which driver is meant for me, so not clear for me as frequent laptop user.
- Installations done from friday (Note that i did not install anything from tuesday to thursday).
- Running MBAM, installed Microsoft Security Essentials.

Laptop: Asus K73SV TY080V

No idea if it helps, but the wifi keeps identifying and then resulting in no access. Could it be an networksetting in the wifi of my laptop connection to it?

If you are using both of these as an access point then it's required that you make adjustments to the routers DHCP settings.

Please post a screen shot of the ipconfig/all from this machine.

While being downstairs it runs smooth, when i go upstairs in a room, it keeps failing and do i only have access to the router on 2nd floor.

I think the problem is solved, but have to check it tomorrow.

I did have a error code 22 on my microsoft virtual mini adapter, checked for a driver, installed it and now it looks like i can load faster youtube videos. Checking tomorrow while gaming to confirm.

Thanks for any input done, if you think this was not the cause, let me know or i will find out soon anyway.

ok, problem is not solved, but i am getting further to the problem. I think it has something to with my network card and found some unwanted events in the event viewer of windows.

Those include informations about DHCP, WLAN, errors and 1 critical. I am guessing that an external usb adapter can solve the problem, but going to try fix it first.

Think about performing some virus scan's and system file integrity scan's at this point using the following code pasted into an elevated command prompt. The results are important.

sfc /scannow

Thanks, but had already done that. No mistakes reported.

I found out also that i get lease obtained and lease expires at ip. Have been looking how to check for installed firewall, but am not able yet to find out how i know that exactly.

Like, the problem exists now for a full week. Though i seem like getting more info everyday.. and everyday hoping for getting the last fix.

As suggestions done elsewhere on the internet i have disabled ipv6, checked network sharing, checked drivers, re-attached the wlan card to windows 7 (deleting the hardware and then re-adding). Are you interested in a file of the eventlogs? Might be more helpfull if someone else knows what they exactly are for and could maybe exclude some problems you would come up with.


When i lost the internet connection i noticed as well that the ipconfig /all optoins shows me at the network card 4-5 lines instead of the 8-9 when connected.

I'd never recommend disabling IPv6, that so called fix is a complete hoax IMO it's not a good suggestion at all for a number of reasons.

I'd have to see the ipconfig/all when the connection goes down.

With gateway problems you could try manually adding the default gateway IP "192.168.46.1" to the IPv4 properties where it says Add Default Gateway.

Ok, another interesting part, i got suggested from world of tanks support to contact my ISP for a pingplotter file i made while running that game. I did not do that yet. Should I or wait for further investigation of this issue? I have read on the internet that sort of problem i have was caused by a problem laying with ISP in the street.

This evening when i booted up the laptop again and switched to the wifi downstairs, as i was, i had to run the network diagnostics and it told me to Investigate router or modem issues, including to reset those.

Is this a step closer to being it a fault of the modem/router or from my ISP?

Will lookup how to get a logfile for the commandprompt and will let you know it when it occures again.

Edit: ipv6 is ON from now again

So far, i think reinstalling the ipv6 did solve the problem. Though i do have still some laggs in game from world of tanks. I never had it that much but only since the bsods i got. So i am not loosing the connection anymore, now i need to know what causes the lagg.

Should i try reinstalling ipv4 as well?


Solved after reinstalling ipv6:
- Connectivity, i can reach the modem wifi upstairs again.
- On reboot, i have connection and do not have to troubleshoot.
- Connection does not time-out anymore

I don't see how the connection can work without IPv4.

Not completely sure what you mean by reinstalling but as long as it works.
