I have several routers/subnets on my network, mostly as a security measure to isolate business, personal, smartphone networks from each other. This works well. I also have the wireless network on my gateway router (to which my business machines are connected) isolated from the business (and all other) networks, restricted to just smartphone traffic.
Now, however, I would like to wifi connect to the business network with one of my smartphones to download files & photos from phone to PC. And I'd like to use an additional subnet router to do so (the idea being that I can turn this subnet router on to download the files to PC, then turn the router off).
So, I think that I can accomplish this task by setting up the router as I usually would for subnet use, setting up the subnet wireless NW as usual with unique passphrase, then use the advanced routing tab to connect to the gateway router, then set up my PC to allow access of the phone through the advanced routing.
In a nutshell, allow my smartphone to connect to my PC (on the gateway router) through a subnet router wireless network.
All routers (subnets & gateway) are in the 192.168.x.1 IP range (with 'x' being the variable).
Problem is, I'm not too sure how to go about it once I get to the Advanced routing 'phase'.
So, if my explanation isn't too convoluted, the questions are:
1. Is advanced routing the best way to go?
2. Can someone recommend a good primer on how to use advanced routing securely & effectively?
Thanks!
