Hello.
First of all,I don't really know laptop's stuff.I simply call them with what I like.
I'm sorry.Well,I have Compact Presario cq40 laptop.I bought around 2009.The problem is,recently everytime I switch on,there will be light on the keyboard as usual but nothing display on the screen.
Another problem is,everytime swith on the button,I hear the so called fan sound like it is running normally (i don't know what are you calling it ) but then less than 15 secs, the fan suddenly will stops running and followed by nothing display on the screen.
I need an immediate answer and solution.Just want to let you know that I have to use my mom's laptop in order to post this thread.Haha.Thanks:p

This doesn't sound good. It's seeming like a hardware issue.
You aren't even getting far enough for it to be windows related. The machine is simply not powering on properly.
If this were a desktop I'd have some ideas for you, but with a laptop there's not a hell of a lot to do.

Only thing I can really think of is finding out the key combo for external display and attach to it an external monitor to see if the problem is only the screen.

Sounds like a major hardware issue, which could include motherboard, processor, RAM, or video hardware. Does it happen plugged in and not?
