Solved Laptop fan not spinning

I have a Toshiba Satellite T135 laptop. The laptop's fan seems to be not spinning. This has been happening since a few days ago. Before this, I often got a dialog box saying that the cooling system is not working and it said to shutdown and return to service. I just ignored this message but when the warning appeared, the fan started spinning rapidily. But on the first day the fan stopped, this message did appear but the fan did not spin. Also the fan does not spin when the computer turns on. The system seems to be working fine, and the laptop has not shutdown itself yet because of the cpu overheating. Please help!

You should read your own tag line -- about being safe, not sorry! Using the laptop without a working fan is asking to burn out the processor.

It could simply be clogged and a burst of compressed air, from a can, will free up the fan and get it working again.

But, if that doesn't do it, you need to get the fan replaced -- and unless you're adept at disassembling and reassembling laptops, you would better taking it to a service facility.

Computer0304 I don't think you are understanding.
If your fan is not working don't use the laptop at all until it is fixed.

If it's been that long, then you're sitting on a ticking time bomb. It's only a matter of time before that fan gives out, and your processor immediately overheats and dies. Get that fan cleaned--NOW!

As mentioned earlier don't use this laptop until you clean it. Open the back and see how close you can get to the fan assembly and use a soft brush or q-tip and clean all the blades and the air channel from the intake port to the exhaust port. Then after clean you can try starting the lappy up with the back off being very careful as all you want to do is test for the fan spinning if it doesn't then you must replace it or risk burning the CPU up or worse. If it spins then power the lappy off and replace all the panels. Cleaning any computer must be done every 3-6 months and laptops are the worst as they have such weak airflow and work at much higher temps normally.

There was a recall on those lap tops a few years ago because of faulty fans. Read THIS. This Toshiba is one of the easiest lap tops to replace the fan, read THIS. This is a cheap and easy fix, do it before it burns down and become a paper weight.

Yes I know that but that's about a faulty dc harness. I know it's not because of that. But I bet the recall will not work now because it has been years.

Yeah, it'll shut down. The problem will be, you won't be able to turn it back on, because the CPU will be fried.

To be perfectly honest, I don't know. I suppose it's possible. But, as your sig line says, "better safe, than sorry," even though it could already be too late.

I finally got it spinning! Yay! I hope now everything will work. But for some reason, no dust came out or maybe it just seemed like there is no dust but there was a lot of dust. Well at least everything is now working smoothly. I could hear the fan right now.
