I don't see Intel Rapid Storage Technology in services.msc. Only Intel(R) Management and Security Application User Notification Service. Also, of course I turned off the "Turn off windows write-cache buffer flushing on the device" immediately when I experienced freezes again.
The freezes are way less frequent now though (last one was like 2 hours ago) and it seems to only happen when I'm playing games.
My first thought was; you may have to wait until the drives cache re-learns your usage habits, and the last half of this post seems to back that up:
WHS, the answer to that question is above my pay grade. Unlike you, I don't understand the technical aspects of write cashing although I do know basically what it is. I would provide links for you if you could find anything on OCZ's forum. As I recall, it has a very small write cache but it does have one.
The guy who said to disable write cache said after disabling it you had to wait a minimum of 24 hours and restart in excess of 10 times before you start noticing the difference. I could never notice, maybe benchmarks could tell, but real world performance is quite often different than benchmark ratings - in my experience.

After checking on your HDD: 1TB Encrypted Laptop Drive, SED | Seagate, I couldn't help to think if the Self-Encrypting Drive (SED) technology has something to do with the freezing problem, but I haven't looked into it to know if it would or not.
