My laptop could work for days without any problems, allowing me to shut down properly and restart. The next time it may or may not freeze up. If it freezes up it could be anywhere from minutes to hours. I could be running programs or not, it doesn't seem to matter. On a couple of occasions I received 4 beeps when turning on computer. This is a rare occurrence. The 4 beeps seems to mean a problem with the processor. Before I spend a fortune I want to properly identify my problem. I installed software that put stress on the CPU and everything worked fine. I ran HW Monitor and the temperatures are all normal. I looked at Windows Error Reporting under System Information and there are numerous error, mostly faulting application name mscorsvw.exe. I hope you can help me.

Four beeps on that laptop means that there is a RAM read/write failure. Check the RAM sticks to make sure that one of them hasn't worked its way loose, and that they are clipped in properly. Using a little compressed air in a can wouldn't hurt to blow out the dust from the connectors while you have the RAM sticks out.

Then run Memtest86+ for eight passes overnight and see if you get memory errors. If you do, remove one stick and run the test again. If that one fails, put the other one in and do the test again. If both pass, it was a connector issue, if one fails, or both fail, it's time for new RAM

Memtest86+ can be found here:

Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

Please post back with your results.
