Laptop no longer recognized by network

I have a Dell laptop that was working fine with my linksys wireless router when the other day it suddenly stopped working. I have a message that the network no longer recognizes the computer.

I rebooted both my main computer and the laptop thinking I may have had an IP conflict but that hasn't cured the problem.

My laptop is detecting the network but it has a red x next to it.

I made no changes to anything. Why would this be happening and would the problem be with the linksys router, my main computer, or the network magic program?

I don't think it's with the laptop as I stayed in a hotel the other night and was able to log in to their wireless network.

Where should I look first?

Where should I look first?

I would start by resetting the router, there should be a small hole with a hidden button inside the hole which can be pushed with a paper clip for appox. 30 seconds to a minute. The routine for this is a bit different for all routers so best to look it up for your particular router.

Resetting the router appears to have worked. The only strange thing is I had to re-enter the security pin as if it was a totally new computer accessing the network.

That is normal. If you reset the router, it goes back to factory settings - that means nothing you defined before is left.
