Hello All,

I am in desperate need of a solution to my problem. A few months back, my laptop started getting stuck at the splash screen. The problem used to come and go but it annoyed me so I gave my laptop to lenovo customer care service. They advised me to restore my OS and I did the same but to no avail. The problem still persisted. Then I went again to a different lenovo customer service and they updated my BIOS and tweaked it. It worked good for about 12 hours or so. But the next day again the problem occured.

Please help

Configuration:

Apparently you need a proper bios update installed.

If you still have the warranty, I would just take it back again or demand a new pc.

The second time i went to lenovo customer care, they told me that they have updated the BIOS and tweaked its settings. No its not in warranty :(

So i guess there is no problem of BIOS..

I said that since the customer care updated my BIOS settings, it MIGHT be alright..
I am still not sure whether it actually is or not..

It's not a program. It's the OS and how to reinstall it properly.

Do you have your files backed up off all partitions?

i tried to restore my OS to my early restore point..
but again it does not go beyond loading windows :(
can it be hard disk problem ?

How did you run Startup Repair and Restore? From the booted DVD or Repair CD?

What are setups? Downloads? Having them on D if it is on the same HD is NOT backup. To try to overcome install problems you need to wipe your HD so back up anything from D now to another HD, USB external HD or flashs stick, or DVD using Copy & Paste - in Windows Recovery Console

If you have not tried to reinstall yet then boot the installer, use Custom install Drive Options shown in Steps 6/7 of Clean Install Windows 7 to delete all but the D partition where your data is stored, then create a new partition in the deleted partition space, format it, highlight it to Install on it.

While it installs read over the steps for Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 so you know how to proceed once Win7 is loaded, particularly with drivers - have your ethernet cable plugged in during install to get online fastest to get all rounds of Important and Optional Updates including drivers.

As long as you don't touch the D partition your data should be safe. But its safest to back up any data you need at all times since the HD could always fail.

i just booted my laptop thru safe mode with netwrking.
this was the first time i reached beyond loading point..
it said i need to restart my lappy to make changes n wn i dd i can now access windows normally !!
WTF is happening !! n know the problem will resurface again :(

it itself gave me the option either to start windows normally or run startup repair..
i dont need to back up anything..
wn u go for system restore ur entire data installed after the restore point is wiped out.
so in order to avoid the hassle of downloading the setups of the softwares, i copied their setup file in D drive cz D drive is not affected by restore process..

I specfically said to run Startup Repair and System Restore from System Recovery Options
on booted installer or Repair CD, not the auto-start one which you ran.

Data is not affected by System Restore. But your your data should always be backed up for the reasons I've mentioned.

In your case I would see if the vastly superior Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 makes the difference for your Lenovo. But a lot depends upon whether you follow the steps closely. You'll get and keep a perfect install as long as you stick with the tools and methods given.

I saw the screen shots of the process through which you restore through system recovery options and it is not different from the autostart option in any way..

But i am going to follow the clean reinstall thing and let you know :)..
thanks for all the help though :)

The autostart Repairs depend upon System files which may be infected or corrupted.

i went to download the iso file of windows 7 home basic 64 bit but they have iso files for starter, home premium and ultimate..

what should i do now ?
