Solved Laptop replacement battery conditioning

Greetings; I need to replace the battery in a Latitude d820. Once it has a full charge can I presume normal operation or do these 6600 mAH (-/+) type batteries need any special conditioning time?

It's been awhile since I've looked but if I remember correctly the general concensus is to fully charge the battery before use, then use the device until your battery power is low (7-10%), then fully recharge it again and you are good to go. Looking around the net, some places say to do it 3 times to really condition it. It is recommended to also do this once every few months to keep it conditioned. For the rest of the time, most people say not to let it drop below 30-40%. Supposedly letting it drain too low, too often severely shortens the long term life of the battery.

No you do not need to condition your battery. Lithion Ion batteries have no memory.

What follows is an anecdotal survey of one....

Have had 7 new laptops here over the last few years whilst living & commuting between the tropics & a more temperate climate.
{Tropical climates are extremely harsh on electroncs.}

Batteries in each are left in situ the whole time.

Every so often the batteries are discharged & recharged .
No set times," conditioning" or rules apply.

No battery thus far has had to be replaced.

Alright then. Now I just have to find a reputable vendor, the Dell oem batt. $ is like a car payment.
