I fear you have a loose connection problem! Might be a job for an engineer unless you feel confident if having a go yourself. If you feed the make and model of your laptop into Google you just might find a reference to an engineers manual.

Impossible to answer this, it will cost more to diagnose the problem than to fix it, I would guess!. It seems as if you have solved the boot up problem that you had yesterday, is that so? If yes what did you do to cure it?
BTW reading your previous thread I'm guessing that you are located in the UK. Is this so?

would be impossible to tell you how much they'll charge to A: figure it out - B: Fix it

Warranty on the laptop? If so, you might need to use it.

Oh ok. Yes i solved this by attempting to reinstall the original windows 7 installation CD after around an hour of trying to get it to boot a CD.

TDPUK, It's highly possible you may have damaged the flex cable of the lcd panel or you may be lucky and it has just come loose from its connection depending on who made your laptop it may be easy for you to just remove the hinge cover and just push in the flex cable normally there are only 2 sets of cables ,1 the flex the other will be the wireless antennae if you let us know the lappy manf we may be able to help you further :)

LCD panels do not create any light of their own, unlike older CRT monitors. Instead, images are illuminated by means of a backlight. Each individual pixel (and there are 3 types: Red Green and Blue) can either block the light or allow it to pass with varying degrees. Over a period of time, the light generated by this backlight can deteriorate (sometimes intermittently) and this can result in a dim display with poor contrast. Rough treatment of the panel can also lead to problems with the backlight.

What is the make and model of your laptop?

Hi thank's for the reply firstly. I have tried removing the LCD cover but i cannot seem to get the bottom of it off as it's attatched to most of the plastic around the charger port, i could make a video but i don't really want to cause any more damage. Although i would like to get this fixed without paying anymore then i already have :)

I only asked as your Profile shows you to be in the US. You can edit your timezone by going to the User CP tag at the top of this Forum then under Settings and Options in the left hand panel, Click Edit Options then scroll down to Date and Time Options and in there change your Timezone.
Back to the lappy. Have you searched for an engineers manual as suggested earlier?

It could be the inverter or the backlight, or both.

I have had a similar problem to this in the past and managed to fix it following this helpfull site below, i found a laptop similar to yours. Some of the screws etc may be in different places but will give you an overall guide on how to replace these items if you wish.

How to replace damaged LCD screen in Acer Aspire 5670 or 5620 laptop >> Inside my laptop

My components to replace was inverter £19 and backlight £10, it may take some looking around though for your parts.

Follow this guide ONLY if you want to try yourself otherwise take it to a trusted repair shop.

My laptop was old and out of warranty, it was mainly a testing laptop that i could afford to mess up, although i did manage to fix it.
