Solved Laptop wakes up from sleep to hibernate

As far as I know, laptops in sleep near battery death wake themselves up to go into hibernation. Problem is my laptop is waking up in the middle of the night from a near full battery to go into hibernation randomly (and blasting the music that was playing for the few seconds it takes before it hibernates). I'm also concerned of this happening while the laptop is in my backpack being shuffled about in sleep and just randomly waking up to hibernate. I don't want it to wake up automatically at all!

I don't have any devices waking it, such as mice or keyboards which wouldn't be the same anyway since that'd just wake up the laptop, not put it into hibernate afterwards.

Do the event logs shed any light on this? Look for a time stamped event while it was supposed to be asleep.

Check your Power Options settings (in Control Panel).

I don't think my power options have any settings that have to do with automatically waking up. As far as event logs, how do I access those?

Also, I just remembered this happens with my other laptop as well, and I haven't done anything funky to either of the laptops' power settings. Something's up! Maybe this is just default W7 laptop power behavior. Either way, I want it to knock it off with the auto wakes

Don't think it's default behavior. Haven't seen that on any Win 7 laptop. Check in the advanced power options to see if it's set to hibernate after a period of time. If it's in sleep mode when that time expires, it's got to wake up in order to go into hibernate.

Oh, and you'll find the Event Viewer in Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Administrative Tools.

And contrary to my previous post, it may well be default behavior for Win 7 on laptops. I always go in there and set it up the way I want.

I think you're right. I'll set the hibernate setting to Never and see if that does the trick. Though if it is true, then it is default behavior since I didn't mess with the hibernate settings before this
