It may have been something removed in the registry that should not have beed. A System Restore should be able to take care of that for you.

I run CCleaner from the recycle bin at the end of every session.



The uac prompt pops up every time. It's not a big deal, but has anyone found a way of allowing indvidually selected apps. to run without prompts on 7 ?



Still leaving uac on of course.

I do not know it the free program Norton UAC Tool will work in Windows 7, but it allowed you to add programs to a UAC exception list in Vista. You might give it a try to see how it works.

Thanks Shawn - if you remember, it was me who suggested that to you on the Vista Forums . Tho. you were reluctant at first as it is from Norton . LOL.

Can't get it to install on 7 - think it looks for a program version number - doesn't install in compatibility mode either.

There has to be a way of doing it in the registry - not sure what it is yet, though.

That is just a problem with Windows 7 ATM, hopefully they will fix it soon, they were very handy.

I don't think they will change that - but you can do it easily yourself.

Navigate to this registry key:

HKCR\CLSID\{645ff040-5081-101b-9f08-00aa002f954e}

Just copy and paste the bracketed bit into Regedit menu Edit>Find

Right click the key >Permissions>Advanced>Owner>click ( yourpcname)Administrators >Apply>Ok.

You can make the entries manually (like I did), or if you are smart, after you have ownership of the Recycle bin, just open Ccleaner and tick the boxes.







You first need to have rt clicked Ccleaner.exe in Program Files(x86) select Properties>Compatibility>tick Run as Admin, >Apply>OK.

Thanks for help, you should make a tutorial on this, I'm sure there are allot of people that would appreciate it, by the way you can not just tick the boxes in CCleaner without taking ownership of the recycle bin first.

Hi Mark,

Yes, that's what I meant- you can tick the boxes after you have taken ownership - I did it with the recycle bin CLSID in regedit, then made the new registry entries by hand - I could have just ticked the boxes instead of doing the entries manually, LOL.

I like doing stuff in the registry.

Ccleaner is one of the first things i install. It made a real mess of my Win7 installation and i had to do a reinstall
I had run it just after uninstalling Nero7 . As you probably know, Nero leaves a truck load of crap behind after being uninstalled, and i had run Ccleaner Reg cleaner to get rid of what it could . With XP i would run JV16 Power Tools to get rid of the remainder .

Damn it, i will set a new Restore Point and give it another try.

Ccleaner say their latest release is now compatible with 64 bit versions of XP and Vista .
It recognizes my O.S as Win 7 and found 976mb of crap and 275 issues . Bewdy .
