I've found the last two versions' colour settings don't start up with Windows, I always have to bring up the nVidia CP and reset them there.

Posting the issue on nVidia forums produces a deathly silence as usual.

been using 260.99 on my 8800 GT just fine so far - been working good with Oblivion, The Sims 3, and streaming internet video - I hesitated after some bad drivers between this and 197.45

Perfect, I'm planning on side-grading my current XFX HD 5770 to a Gigabyte GTX 460 SE.

Well the GTX 460 SE is hardly and upgrade from a HD 5770 in a review from HardwareCanucks.com. But considering that NVIDIA offers CUDA for applications and PhysX for supported games, I think it's worth the extra cash even if I'm getting the SE version with less CUDA cores.

Question: (I know this is a NVIDIA thread so try not to be bias and only answer if you've owned both a ATI and NVIDIA card this generation).

For regular desktop usage which would be better, NVIDIA (GTX 460) or ATI (5770)?

I'm looking for best clarity, colors and font look between the two cards on desktop usage.

I don't want to hijack the thread (since it is about drivers) but here is a good comparison of the 460 (1gb SC version) versus the 5770 1GB Turbo - HERE

But I see I misread your post and I wasn't aware of the "SE" version which I guess is a slower version of the card.

It's related cause the new 263.09 GeForce drivers support GTX 460 SE which is the slower and cooler running version of the card, still the GTX 460 SE is about the same performance as a GTX 460 768MB (which is faster than a 5770).

Still undiecided but I only got a day left before Black Friday sale goes away, I'll post update if I end up getting the card and how much my max overclock is on the card (GTX 460 SE).

So I ended up not getting the card, mainly because I took too long to decide and the fact that I'm loosing out on too much for a card that I've only owned for 4 months (HD 5770).

I'm pretty sure that GTX 460 SE is a great card considering it's has 1GB memory but for me I'll wait until the GTX 560 shows up before thinking about an upgrade.

Just to keep it all updated, the new GTX460 SE uses the same driver set as the GTX5xx series, and not the other driver set.

It is a bit confusing. For the 500 series downloads, the Dec.7th doesn't list the GTX460 SE, but the Nov.22nd one does.

Hello, Brink... Actually if you look for GeForce 400 Series Drivers and then select GTX 460SE, you will see that the latest version is 263.09 same one as GTX 580/570

263.14 doesn't come up on the beta/archived driver search for my 8800 GT and Win 7 64-bit, but I did see a beta release today (01-04-2011) for the card - 266.35). I was begining to think that 260.99 was the last for this older card.
