I just don't get it. Browsing through a website with heavy flash content in IE9 creates a nasty memory leak that either crashes the browser tab or freezes the whole PC. Damn!

What nvivda drivers you using? Using their latest 295.73?

Have you tried the the 11.2 RC flash player yet?


They mention that on nVidia, and their solution is to use the Beta 11.2 flash version. When mentioned it was at beta 5, It's now at RC.

Try that instead.

Downloaded 11.1.102.63 for FF and IE. FF version installed fine but IE version said there is a newer version and won't install. Don't use IE very much so no big deal.

It don't think it is the video card. I had the same problem and I am using an ATI 5770 video card.
I updated to the RC and am not getting the out of memory error any more.
However, it does seem to be more stable with Firefox than IE9.

Hey, thanks for that! I had the latest GPU drivers from nVidia (295.73). I think I had also installed the RC version of Flash, and that it didn't work. I will try it one more time, though, and see.

EDIT: Unfortunately, it didn't work. I tested YouTube videos by going through a random channel and opening the videos in new tabs (as I so often do) and it still behaves like usual. A single iexplore.exe process in Task Manager continuously takes more and more RAM, and at about 850MB of RAM taken, Flash crashes by controlling the volume, or using the progress bar, changing the stream quality... pretty much everything. If I try to close the tab, IE either crashes and recovers the tab or freezes the browser.
On a different website the amount of RAM jumps up pretty fast and just freezes the system completely.

At first I thought it was because of the Flash, but it's probably due to the GPU drivers in my case. I wouldn't really want to do a rollback to a previous version because Adobe distributes updates to Flash more often than nVidia does for its GPU drivers.

I have the following:windows 7 starter edition (32 bit) Toshiba notebook - Explorer 9.

I install adobe flashplayer 11, then I watch you tube and do Fb. I switch my notebook off, and when I switch it back on I have to re-install Adobe flash player again.

I have tried to un-install flash player completely, but it did not work.

fnb111 et al., when you say you uninstalled it did you use the adobe 32-bit uninstaller app from the uninstallation section of the 11.2 link above? did you then try the 32-bit 11.2 RC on the same page?

ye, I followed the thread as described. No change. I have sice updated Skype, now Skype re-install each time after a restart.
EasyCleaner can't delete 'startup menu' entries or 'invalid registry' entries.

type msconfig in the box by the windows button..
this throws up a menu of items - select the startup tab
and untick the entry for skype in the list of start-up items..

ok and save - then restart your PC..

Full screen keyboard input — This feature enables support for all keyboard keys available to an embedded SWF running inside of a page without full screen mode( except for ‘Esc’). It allows developers to determine if the app is in full screen, whether full keyboard input is allowed, and whether the app is able to request full screen (determined by the embed tag parameter).

Low latency audio support for streaming audio through NetStream — This feature aims to reduce latency for high quality streaming audio playback. It addresses a very special use case of cloud gaming, where the game is rendered at a server and audio and video are streamed to the client.
