I'm glad it's working to your satisfaction with version 2.1.6.
(Version 2.1.8 contains many fixes and improvements, as listed HERE. But if you want to stay with 2.1.6, be sure to disable checking for PROGRAM updates.)

The QA team, developers and coders likely do NOT monitor this thread here at SF.com.
So, they are unlikely to be able to replicate the behavior, identify a bug (if there is one) and fix it.

A clean reinstall of 2.1.8 from an Admin level account using this procedure HERE fixed what MIGHT have been a similar issue for at least the OP HERE.

If a similar clean reinstall doesn't resolve your issues, then I'm sure the team would appreciate some basic information in the form of Diagnostic Logs in a new thread at the MBAM Support forum.
That would be the most efficient way to help them to get to the bottom of the problem, so that it can be fixed, if need be.

The changes in the 1022 build include improvements to the new automatic activation feature that we're introducing in our Free and Trial versions if you complete a successful purchase via the in-app shopping cart. Not all users will see the in-app cart depending on system configuration and other variables, but you can verify by clicking the Upgrade Now button in the top dashboard.

FYI:

Some (but not all) users are having trouble downloading the 2.2.0.1024 installer with Firefox 41.0.1 from the special link HERE embedded in this announcement post HERE.
Disabling ABP and NoScript seem to have no effect.
It has been reported both at MBAM forum and at Wilders.

If you have trouble downloading the MBAM 2.2.0.1024 installer file, either of these two links should work:

I was browsing the MBAM forum and found an interesting thread/post.
Just posting this as an fyi for MBAM users that might be interested.

You are correct that the current architecture of MBAM makes it difficult for us to rapidly deploy program updates. I wish we could be faster getting new versions out the door. We are working on a complete redesign of MBAM to remedy this, but we're still a ways off yet in finishing that.

That has been the most irritating items about all of the 2.0.... versions for me that the 1.75... did flawlessly is update on a daily schedule
I didn't read the link David so not commenting on newer version/ beta.... updating just basic definitions updates.
As far as I've noticed it's getting better but does get stuck after a week or 2 and I have to remove/redo the schedule again :/

I do all my updates/upgrades of Malwarebytes manually and have had no such problem.
I believe that upgrades are done regionally. Which means that my upgrade to 2.20.1024 will be offered at a different time than people in different regions.

A year of so I did have a problem but all I had to do is remove Malwarebytes and install again.
One advantage in my opinion of doing manual updates is you can control what else your computer is doing so it doesn't interfere with updates. I update Malwarebytes 3 or more times a day.
I haven't had any update or upgrade problem with Malwarebytes in a very long time.

I'm still using the free version of 1.75. Every time I think about upgrading I come across people discussing problems and future changes such that it seems like Version 2 is still in beta in all but name.

I stopped using MBAM after a program update. It would not update definitions. Tried the removal tool and a clean install but still had the same problem. Restored a system image backup to get the previous version back and it worked -until I let it update the program and then I had exactly the same problem. Now I am using an alternative product.

I wouldn't want to change, I've always been very happy with 1.75, especially as I use the free version for manual checks a couple of times a week. I'm also very happy with the forum cover provided by MBAM. I'm put off the paid-for version because as I understand it you have no effective control over the quarantine function, even if you elect to confirm quarantine you only have a matter of a few seconds in which to reject it - and as scanning takes a while during which my attention may be elsewhere a few seconds simply aren't enough to jump in and stop an obvious false positive - and that can all too easily lead to the system being screwed up as has happened with the odd rogue definition update in the past. I can understand the importance of automatic quarantine for some users with multiple computers, but as I have just a couple of separate home computers I want to remain in control at all times.
