Latest Version of Malwarebytes

Hello "richc46".
You have overlooked the main advantage of the the Pro version. By having your inputs checked before they enter the computer; you avoid most of the baddies which could do damage in between the times of your scans.

MBAM 2.00 Beta

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.00 Beta is available

I am overjoyed to announce the first public beta of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.0. I know you've been waiting a very long time for this and so have we! The purpose of this beta is to get feedback from the people we care most about -- our users!

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.0 ships with a completely redesigned user interface to make the product easier to use, more informative, and provide quicker access to key functionality. We have built in and improved our Anti-Rootkit and Chameleon self-protection technologies that have been in beta for the past year. Additionally, we've rewritten Malicious Website Blocking and improved native x64 support. Most importantly, our detection and removal engine was significantly improved under the hood and kicks even more malware butt! This is the biggest rewrite we have ever undertaken, and we hope you’re thrilled with the result.

With the launch of 2.0, we'll also be moving to a subscription licensing model, $24.95 per year.

The following are the known issues for the first MBAM 2.0 Beta:
  • You should uninstall Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.75 first and reboot prior to installing the 2.0 beta if running Malwarebytes Anti-Malware PRO or the free Trial. You do not need to run mbam-clean.exe.
  • English is the only language available at this time. Additional languages will be available for release.

Gents another question.
I now have the "Malwarebytes anti-malware Pro" paid for version loaded on my PC but does it automatically update to this new version or is that something different?
It says I am up to date with 1.75.0.1300, it looks as if I should unstall this version first then install the 2.0 Beta version but I'm a little worried about my reg key for the paid for version.

Any help much appreciated.

Big notice with this new version:

"with the launch of 2.0, we'll also be moving to a subscription licensing model, $24.95 per year. as more and more people have come to rely on us for malware protection and cleanup, our costs in bandwidth, hosting fees, infrastructure, salaries of our researchers, qa department, and more have grown immensely. Though our company is about more than just making money, we are a company and we do have to make money to pay our staff to continue doing what they love, which is fighting malware. The subscription model will help us to be sustainable for the future while staying true to our roots that we will always make malware cleanup free for everyone.

we will continue to honor existing lifetime licenses, meaning any users that already have a lifetime license for 1.x will continue to have a lifetime license for 2.x. We'll be offering a few thousand more lifetime licenses during launch as well. On top of all of that, new subscription licenses will be valid for 3 pcs, not just 1.

we could have gone other routes to make our business more financially sustainable, like adding toolbars or advertisements like many other security products have, but that's not the company we are. we believe that products should be nag-free and cleanup shouldn't cost our users a dime, and we're going to stay true to that. scanning for and removing malware will be free in version 2.x and beyond! You didn't pay to get infected, you shouldn't pay to clean it up!

Just uninstall your current version and be sure you have your key written down. The Beta 2.0 has a special Beta key that will be furnished by MB so do not use your current key. The Beta key is on the download page.

I am using it on my 8.1 system along with NIS 2013 and no problems.

How can something you have to pay every year for be a steal over something that you pay for once in a lifetime?. With the lifetime license, you paid $75 for three computers...period. With the new pricing, for three computers, you will have to pay $25 every year. It now will cost you $75 every three years instead of only once in a lifetime.

I'm not blaming MBAM for increasing the cost of their product, especially since they are grandfathering existing lifetime licenses—after all, they have their own bills to pay—but the new price is in no way a steal compared to the old lifetime licenses.

I tend to agree that going from a lifetime one to a yearly cost on top of my Kaspersky is a bit more than I am prepared for.
I already have one lifetime one and if I had known this was about to happen would have put on my other machines.
The free seems to be reasonably good in any case.

3 pc's for 25 bucks is a steal...

????????????

MBAM lifetime licenses are still available here. I would snap one or more up now before they go away (in fact, I did).
