Latest Version of Malwarebytes

I note this peculiarity:

The "scan" tab says my last scan was today at 12:09:45, about 4 hours ago. I'll assume that's correct. I didn't notice it at the time.

The "dashboard" tab says "next scheduled scan 3/6/2015 11:57:56 AM". That's also about 4 hours in the past. Clearly wrong, whether or not I was actually scanned at or around that time.

A bug?

Intentional behavior to say my next scan will be 4 hours ago?

Any others seeing this?

That's a bug that has been complained about and reported.
I'm not sure if they should have it fixed yet with the latest beta.

Rootkit scan seems to add very little time to my scans, so I'll leave it checked.

Kinda sorta. Right now, I'm showing last scan was 14 hours ago and the next scheduled scan is 3/4/2014 1:51:23 AM. Time travel?

Ticking "scan for rootkits" will add a small percentage of time to a system's overall scan times. Some users will take comfort in knowing their system is still rootkit safe when negative results are reported.

If speed is more important to you, a separate Threat Scan can be scheduled, in the Premium version, where a less frequent, and less stringent, scanning schedule has been chosen.

Try a few Threat Scans with everything enabled and see if this is what you like.

I seem to recall there was a problem with the rootkit scan when 2.0 first came out. I've also noticed it is unchecked in the default settings. Is there still a problem with that (if there ever was one) or should I enable it?

I've been running my scheduled scans with rootkit enabled since v2 came out.
It hasn't caused me issues.

Run a manual scan with rootkit enabled and see if you have problems.

My scans are set to run once a day in the wee hours so I'm not concerned with how long it takes. I just enabled it so we will see if there is a problem or not.

You're welcome, but just checked and they say it's fixed in the BETA...

What’s new:

• Brand new UI design! Much cleaner look with a toned-down color scheme.
• Improved scan flow – all scans now automatically check for and apply the latest database updates so you're always scanning with the latest protection. (Exception: this will not occur with Scheduled Scans if you have the option to “check for updates before scanning” disabled.)
• You’ll automatically be prompted to download new program updates for the beta whenever they’re available. You can check back to this thread for details on the latest changes included in the new versions.
• Simplified Quarantine flow – threats detected are pre-selected for removal and users are presented with a single “Remove Selected” button. Clicking “Remove Selected” quarantines all checked items. It takes so little time I do all my updates and scans manually.
That might be a reason I'm not having any problems with Malwarebytes.
I don't auto update or scan anything.

I too scan manually, run one scanner after the other (running them now). Then tomorrow I make system images. Then I run various cleaners (all tested over time, but notice after new system images ).

I have always ticked the rootkit scan when I scan. All these scanners run in the background while I surf. Never notice they are running until they pop up results. A Guy

What's New since Beta 2:

• Fixed the scan hang that some users reported
• Windows XP users with admin privileges should no longer get the "Run as" prompt to install an MBAM update
• Reduced the width of the UI for some languages where it was way too wide (Note: there is a known issue where the UI size gets stuck and does not always “snap” back to the default size when you switch back to English, even if you try to manually resize. The fix for this is to Exit MBAM by right-clicking, choosing Exit and then re-launch the program.)
• Final Change log has been updated and is now included in the installer
• Tables throughout the program have been improved for better usability
• The majority of updated translations are now included – thank you to all our community volunteers for your help with this!

There will be another RC in the next day or so."

In other words, no automatic push of downloads for build 1016 will be made now. However, if you are a Malwarebytes Forum member with a "Honorary Members" ranking or higher, you could easily find build 1016, but you probably should wait for RC2 in the very near future.

Malwarebytes has a private room called Honorary Members just like the VIP section on here.
It's at the bottom of their Forum page.
It was posted in that room last night. They were having some GUI issues with non-english versions that the screen was too big so they are fixing that and will release an update hopefully in a day or so.

The latest stable MBAM2 release version is 2.0.4.1028 and is still recommended for everyday usage.

The latest public test version is 2.1.3.1017 RC2.

The newest version 2.1.3.1017 is a Release Candidate and is not final.
It runs great on my system but the final should be out in a week or so.
To be safe you can wait but if you want to be daring go for it.
