not so sure about Thrashzone though , got to keep my on on him lol.

Lock and load although that seems backwards :roflmao:

I love ThrashZone ( in a manly kind of way of course, no funny stuff) , he's good people in my book lol.

10 Forums makes most people suspicious of others ;)
It's all good at 7Forums :D

Yeah, i tried 10 forums and immediately got beaten about the face and head , not a good first impression , those people don't play in there.

Sticking with 7 forums for the time being .

Jonny I don't think that me and Thrashzone have any problems with each other.
I don't think I have problem with any member. Some members and I don't always agree but we disagree politely.
I know of no forum with over a quarter million members that all members agree all the time.

I don't always agree with John and Shawn except, they are the Bosses, we do agree on that and I act accordingly.

At times I'm not sure in my mind what a expert really is.

Example:
I know people that are called expert shots that couldn't hit a barn door at 50 yards with a 12 gauge.
I hit groundhogs at 500 yards with 70 grains of Nosler Ballistic Tips and nobody calls me a expert shot other than the groundhogs family until I get all of them.

I would like to be known as a knowledgeable member that tries to his best to help others on this forum.

We are way off topic for the security section. Sorry.

I got to stop kidding with you Layback Bear , i never wanted you to read into it as deeply as you are , it's all "tongue and cheek" my friend .

Your good people in my book , always have been , all i wanted to say is you have always been very helpful to me and whether you consider yourself an expert or a work in progress your knowledge is superior to mine in every way so i would be happy.

Superior to a lot of people actually , being superior to mine is really no compliment as even the common rodent has superior computer knowledge when compared to me .

OK, you got me curious :p

Do you ever see any entries in the MBAM Protection Log for Type Update ?
If you click on Update Now from the MBAM Dashboard, does that put an entry in the Protection Log for Type Update and Source Manual ?
(see screen print below)

In Task Manager I have 3 processes running for MBAM real-time:
mbam,exe, mbamscheduler.exe, and mbamservice.exe
(see screen print below)

Do you have these 3 running, especially the mbamscheduler.exe ?

Do you have any security software or settings that might prevent access to the MBAM update server ?
Such as Firewall, other real-time security programs, any other "rules", etc. ?

I did remove the default installed tasks update and threat scan because I read you can't edit them and have them work you need to remove it and add another one well those don't work either now I did get them to finally work in the last version but I had 2-3 redundant tasks to do one task set at different times
One for daily one for weekly and I believe another for daily with different recover task times
One was 1 hour recover and the other was 23 hours recover.

Nope now I see them ;)

I removed what tasks I had and set them to an advanced day and time to start possibly that will make a difference
One for 10pm cst and another for 8am
Possibly one or both of those will kick in and work,
All others were pretty much showing the default start time...

This particular issue has been a thorn in the past since 2.0.. was released thought I had it whipped in the last version but the last version started to not activate malicious website blocking on startup so clean and reinstalled to fix that which it did but back to the not updating annoyance :/

I've often always had an issue where my settings don't get carried forward correctly with a program update.
I then manually set them the way i want, reboot, and they still don't stick or work.
I set them again to my preference, and reboot ... see if they now work and stick ...
I've had to reboot, fix settings up to 6 times before it works correctly for me.

I've been through the mbam-clean, reinstall, send logs, report issues, ... too many times ...
Now I just keep resetting, rebooting, and keep my mouth shut until it works. :zip:

Well I got a popup that it updated pretty much at 10pm :)
Then I got another popup message saying the same thing :/

At least it works will see if tomorrow morning if it works looks promising,
I guess you need to change the timing all tasks must be set to a future time or day than what is shown as default :/
I can live with that but would of been nice to know that in advance :p

See my responses in Bold

Well I got a popup that it updated pretty much at 10pm :)
Then I got another popup message saying the same thing :/

Yea MBAM can repeat messages ....

At least it works will see if tomorrow morning if it works looks promising,
I guess you need to change the timing all tasks must be set to a future time or day than what is shown as default :/

That might be the fix for you, set the task to a future date/time.

I can live with that but would of been nice to know that in advance :p

Let us know how it works out for you.

fwiw
Since I posted a few hours ago, MBAM finally offered me a program Update...
I know they are throttling the roll-out, so i understand why i had to wait.
I was waiting for the program update notification so i could test a "In program GUI update" ...
The update eventually worked without needing a mbam-clean/reinstall ...
This time it only took 4 reboots to work correctly ;)

Yep popped up only once this morning and updated
Will see if they both update again if so I'll just remove one of them probably the a.m. updater ?
P.m. is fine better than the Zero day updater and might be better than mornings for future bad updates coming in over night ruining my mornings ;)

10pm updated with popup so I guess it's working 2 nights in a row

Still updating with a popup although set at 6 seconds to stay up doesn't seem to work seems shorter than 3 seconds too but all is good and hard to miss :)

What is the best way to upgrade Malwarebytes Pro to version 2.1.4 from 2.0.4?,i have been aware of an update but usually only scan every month, today I opened Malwarebytes and it performed a definitions update then a scan, when completed I was not prompted to update to version 2.1.4 from the program and cant seem to find a direct download link for the pro version just a link to buy the pro version which takes me to the add to cart page.
In settings I have the box ticked that says check for product update same time as definitions. In the 1.75 days I remember if there was a program update it would perform this first then update definitions but it does not seem to be doing it this way anymore.

You can download the free version from the link in Post #1 of this thread.
The free version and the paid version are the same executable, the only difference is you activate the Premium (Pro) license by entering your key and id.

You can install the download "over the top" of your current version, and that should carry forward your id and key.
It always has for me.

They are throttling delivering the latest program version update, so you could wait a while longer and see if it offers a program update from within the program later.

No matter which way I update, from within the program or install over the top, I always check all settings.
For me some settings don't get carried forward correctly and i have to reset them the way i want them.

Make sure you have your license id and key copied somewhere safe in case you ever need them going forward.

What is the best way to upgrade Malwarebytes Pro to version 2.1.4 from 2.0.4? <snip>

In addition to DavidE's excellent advice, yes, you ought to be able to update to 2.1.4.1018 on top of 2.0.4.1028.
Your settings ought to be retained, as would your license info (if you were running the paid, Premium version).

However, as per this recent post by the MBAM Senior Product Manager, you might want to check a few settings after the upgrade (only one of the 3 settings applies to the Free version).

If you prefer to perform a clean upgrade or if you ever need to reinstall the program, then the "best practices" for both Free and Premium versions are in this tutorial.

Either way, it is important to reboot the computer after the upgrade when the install wizard prompts to do so.
