oh my, you guys arent going to believe this... I burned 7048 to a dvd disk, went out and bought an external CD drive, did a clean install of 7048 on my laptop... and NOTHING. Still doesn't detect the wireless.... This is awful...

... are there wireless driver packs I could download or anything and transfer them over to my lenovo? :'(

Update

okay, i did the troubleshooting, and it says

"PCI serial port is not installed. install the latest driver for this device."

.... how do I do this??

Solved:
The drivers on Lenovo's site worked, but they were not obvious. Thanks to focher for pointing them out.

Symptoms:
Upon unpacking my new Lenovo X200 tablet (well, my daughter's new Lenovo X200 tablet) I copied the hard drive contents to an external drive and then loaded the 64-bit version of Windows 7 Build 7100. I formatted the primary partition and installed Win7 there.

After installation some devices were not recognzed. I attached to my network via an Ethernet cable and was able to install some of the drivers by right-clicking and having Win7 search for them on the internet. However it was not able to find the drivers for three devices.

  • PCI Serial Port
  • PCI Simple Communications Controller
  • Network Controller

Resolution:
These problems were fixed by these drivers:

PCI Serial Port
Intel AMT X200s X200 Tablet
Local Manageability Service and Serial Over LAN (Intel AMT 4.0) driver for Windows Vista, XP 05 Jan 2009
v5.4.0.1074
Filename = 7vr212ww

PCI Simple Communications Controller
Management Engine Interface (Intel AMT 4.0) Windows Vista, XP 12 May 2008
v4.0.1.1074
Filename = 7vr109ww

Network Controller
Intel Wireless LAN (11abgn, abg, bg) for Windows Vista - ThinkPad
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-70505.html
Filename = 6hwv04ww

I hope that this helps.
