Links sent/received not clickable

I am using Win7-64, IE8, and WinLiveMail.

For the past several months there was no problem but now I cannot send or receive a clickable link. When I send a link by clicking "Send link by e-mail" in IE8 the link is correctly copied into the body of the e-mail message. However, whether it is sent to me or others it is 'dead' in that clicking on it does nothing and it is not colored as it should be. If I then forward the link to myself it is still not colored or clickable. If someone sends me a link I can click on it and open the webpage.

I have read a number of the posts about this problem and have checked that IE8 and WinLiveMail are the default programs with all associations checked.

There are so many posts in this forum about this problem I hope that a solution is readily available which I have not run across yet.

Thanks.

Thanks. However, that is exactly what I did and it did not help.

I found a thread in this forum where the member noted that by putting a space before the URL resulted in a functioning link. I tried that and it did work. This appears to be a bug in IE8. Has a workaround (other than manually inserting a space) been found?

You might try to reset IE8: Tools/Internet Options/Advanced/Reset.

I've been using OE/WM/WLM with IE for many years. I have gotten into the habit of putting the space at both ends of the url. I assume the email program won't recognize it as a url and not some wierd text string unless it's separated.

When instructions regarding the need for spaces is not provided by Microsoft it is safe to assume that this is a bug.

I have been unable to send clickable links since I switched to windows 7 and live mail. Page and send a link was not clickable and it was frustrating. It didn't matter whether it was an e-mail or posting a link to a website. It didn't work. One day I wanted to send a link and I thought why go through page and send a link. It won't be clickable anyway. I went to the address bar and clicked on that. It highlighted the address so I right clicked and copied it. Then I went to where I wanted the link and right clicked and pasted it. It turned into a clickable link. I tried it in live mail and other websites and every time it was clickable. I hope this can help anyone who does not have clickable links in windows 7.
