Solved Little hic-up during file restore

Greetings people. My OS(win7 ultimateX32) HD seemingly failed. So I bought a new HD and reinstalled Win 7. At this point, I was thinking that I had lost all of my files. However, when I hit "restore", I was presented with about 12 restore points which are on a second HD. Naturally, I chose the latest one, which was still quite recent, so I did the restore. When it was complete, I looked for my files and they were not there. I remembered seeing something about "USER", so I went there and sure enough, there were all the restored files under a different user called admin. Now, my latest install was given a different user name, "Ken".
My question is---can I easily get all of my freshly restored files(favs., contacts, and pics) back into their proper places under my "Ken" user of my fresh Win7 install?? Or do I have to manually move them.

Hello Hawker, and welcome to Seven Forums.

I would recommend to copy and paste the files you wanted from admin to the Ken using two Windows Explorer windows opened side by side to help make it easier.

System restore only restores system files - no user files. But you can recover user files from restore points with Shadow Explorer

You will need to create the user before you copy the files across.

What I mean is that you cant create a user by just copying the user directory.

Thanks guys. I got most all of my system files back into their proper places of my fresh Win7 install. So, are favorites-contacts-downloads-documents considered system or user files? Anyway, I was able to get what I needed thru RESTORE.
Guess I should look into cloud???????????????????????????

Favorites-contacts-downloads-documents would be considered user files.

Nar, save your money and just backup to a separate external or internal HDD.
