upgraded to new computer and to W764. Dl'ed Live Mail 2011. Used Easy Transfer to move over data and it worked.
Send one message, Okay. Sent second message. Closed. When opening again WLM icon disappears and error box appears. Message is "not connected" List shows first message went out but program is still trying to send second
message. No way to get back to WLM program. Reboot. WLM reappears and examination of Sent box indicates that second message went out apparently in the process of re-booting. Uninstalled program and DL'ed again. After re-install
I now have WLM 2012! Problem still exists however. Any thoughts appreciated.

Of course, I couldn't send a message unless I was signed in. Incidently, the same
thing happens when receiving. Have to reboot to receive after the first time.

Interesting exercise but didn't solve the problem. As an aside is there a way to
put an elevated command prompt on the desktop. I hate going through search, etc.

Just hold down the Shift key and right-click on the desktop…

And then you can choose “Open Command Window Here” from the menu.

thanks johnsmith

for ICit2lol: Problem solved. Apparently somewhere in the process of transferring
from old computer to new computer the mail account got duplicated (same name).
but without server data so the program couldn't figure out what to do and just hung
up. Of course the error message was not very explanatory. When I deleted the
duplicate account everything works well. Thanks for your input. I did learn how
to use a couple of functions in W7

To create a desktop shortcut to the Windows 7 Command Prompt:

  1. Right-click an open area of the desktop, click "New" and then click "Shortcut".
  2. In the field labelled "Type the location of the item", enter "C:/Windows/System32/cmd.exe" (without quotes).
  3. Click "Next" and give the shortcut a suitable name such as "Command Prompt".
  4. Click "Finish". A new "Command Prompt" shortcut should now be available on the Windows desktop. Double click the icon to open the Command Prompt window.
For even easier access, you can drag the shortcut to the Windows 7 Quick Launch Bar.
You can also configure aspects of the Command Prompt such as the start folder, layout, font and background colour. To configure various Command Prompt options, right-click the shortcut icon and select "Properties".

Alternative Method:
  1. Locate the Command Prompt on the Start Menu. It will probably be listed in "Accessories".
  2. Right-click Command Prompt, access the "Send To" menu and click "Desktop (Create Shortcut)".
Hope this helps,
John
