live tv problem

I really need help I just got a new remote so I can FINALLY watch live-tv in wmc but after a few minutes the picture freezes and audio stutters.
I recorded scrubs and 8 minutes in the recording is nothing but a recording of a frozen green pixelated with audio that stutters like a scratched cd.
I can watch tv fine using mpc and vlc though the remote wont work. :( This doesn't happen with dvds files or netflix.

sage tv just came up with a system message saying " capture device failure while starting recording"

"Error - capture device failure while starting recording"

"The capture device input AVerMedia M780 PCIe audio/video capture 1 TV Tuner had a failure while trying to start recording of 'AVerMedia M780 PCIe audio/video capture 1 TV Tuner' on on physical channel at Tue 12/22 22:40."

I have the same tuner. Initially installed with Vista Home Premium 32-bit and it would work fairly reliably (occasionally a few recordings would not occur and I would see the message "there was no TV signal" in the Recordings History). This would also happen sometimes when watching live tv in Media Center although the message would go away after a few seconds or it would go away if I switch channels then back to the original channel.

After moving the card to a newly built Windows 7 (also 32-bit) machine, performance seemed a bit better for a while then all of a sudden started seeing freezing picture and squeaky/screechy audio in many recordings.

I've installed a cable signal booster at the source and all outlets in my house now receive a very strong and clear signal, however the recordings problem continue. It's now to the point where I can't count on this tuner to reliably record any show ...

I suspect it's a driver issue but even the latest driver doesn't seem to make any difference. It's very frustrating and I am near the point of getting another tuner for this PC.

I seemed to be having the same problem of the TV display freezing in both Win XP and Win 7 with a ASUS P5KPCL-CM motherboard, using a Compro 750 and a Leadtek Winfast DTV100-s and both the software that came with the cards and "media centre" in win7.

In frustration I have just removed the fax modem card (also a PCI device) and the TV has worked for about an hour so far - a record - normally 1 to 2 minutes. So maybe positiong the PCI card first may be an answer.:D
