Hey guys,

I am looking at getting a new mouse because my Logitech G5 finally gave in after being thrashed.
I am already thinking I will just get another G5 because it was such a good gaming/general use mouse, but I have also been eye-ing off the G9.
Has anyone used both mice before and find one to be better than the other? Let me know.

Cheers
Murty! :D

Logitech have just announced the G500 to replace the G5.

I've been looking at getting the G9 but now the G500 is making me change my mind.

Not what was advertised!
I have a G9 and it's a great mouse and very comfortable in your hand, the only thing I don't like about it is the cord is so stiff on it ant it doesn't route through the bottom of my G15 keyboard very well either because the cord is also too skinny.

Looking at the G500 I think that it would also be a good mouse but it also looks like it has the same sort of annoying lead on it and I'm not too keen on the texture or colour of the plastic either, the one thing I really like on my G9 is the feel and the changeable covers.

Thanks heaps for your feedback guys. I guess I'm also asking, is the G9 worth paying an extra $40 for?

in my opinion, yes
if you're like me - you spend a lot of your time at the PC,
so it makes sense to get the best - you only pay once..

- you can be happy from then on..

Yeah I think that may be the difference, I don't actually spend that much time infront of my computer these days. Maybe a few hours of gaming a week. At this stage I will probably just wait for the G500 to come out. Any ideas of when it is due out?

I love mine as well and I bought an extra grip and the bottom feet. It would be neat to upgrade to the G9x but not sure it would really be worth the trouble :)

I found a G9 recently at Best Buy and was able to order it for $32. Couldn't pass it up at that price. It's been a very decent mouse.

Apologies for reopening this tread  but i thought i'd just tag on to this one instead of opening a new one.

Anyhow the point.... I have got around £50 to spend on a new mouse. The options I have are the G9, G9x (if i use a voucher i've got for amazon) or the g500 (and save myself a few quid).

Whats people's experiences of the g500 and g9x in particular. I want a good solid gaming mouse for FPS etc. Is g9x worth the extra price compared to g9 and the g9 compared to g500 if you get me

Neither, get a Razer Salmosa if you want a cheap gaming mouse.

Yeah I love my G9x, definitely the best mouse I've owned. I've hear some say it's uncomfortable, and that you have to hold it in a 'claw' like manner...have to say I don't get this at all, in fact it's the most comfortable mouse I've ever used as well.

After having my G9 for a few months now, I can honesty say that it's one of the most comfortable that I have ever used. And between work, and a plethora of home computers with mice, trackballs and touchpads..I've used my fair share.

Thanks guys. I think I'm gonna get the G9x since it will work out around the same price as the G9. I'm gonna wait a couple of weeks tho. Got so much coursework to do I cant afford to get distracted by gaming :(

What are the Logitech mouse drivers/ suites like for these range of mice?

No real idea. I downloaded and installed the SetPoint drivers on another machine so that I could set my custom LED colors to what I wanted on the mouse.

However, once I connected it to my actual workstation..I'm just using the built-in Windows 7 drivers for the device and it's working just fine.
