Hi Jad206, Welcome to SF,

You could try to do a System Restore it should take back to your previous settings for the Windows Update

Hope this helps

Assuming that the updates, did in fact, cause the change in your desktop, you must prepare for what will probably happen in the future. If system restore (you could also use a system image, if necessary) is instrumental in restoring your desktop the problem updates would be removed from the system. Shortly, after the return to normalacy, the updates will be reinstalled and you may lose your desktop, again. If it were me, I would change the setting on updates from automatic to manual installation. I would then make a system restore point and a system image. When you receive the updates, install them one at a time. Wait a while before installing the subsequent update, so your computer has time to change the desktop, if it is so inclined. If you install all the updates without incident, great the problem is resolved. If one of the updates changes your desktop again, use the new system restore image, install all of the updates, except the problem one, and leave update setting on manual, until a more permanent solution can be found.
Wishing you the happiest and healthiest of New Years.

Just had a thought, it is not permissable to upgrade from XP to Win 7. Did you upgrade or do a clean install? If you did not have to reinstall your programs, you did an upgrade.

Windows Update? It possibly upgraded the video drivers which reset the WEI score. Re-run the WEI.

(WIN+Pause/Break and see if it needs to be updated)

Go into WIndows Update>View Update History>Installed Updates and remove the updates which were delivered when the problem happened. Restart.

Was there a display driver listed?

If so and uninstalling the update didn't help, you can then look in Device Manager, click Display Driver>Update tab>Roll back driver.

Next, troubleshoot Aero to recover Aero theme: Control Panel>Troubleshooting>appearance.

MacAfee is considered by most tech enthusiasts to be a bloatware infection. Consider lean mean AV solutions like free Avast or MSE.

Try this one:
1. Right click on your computer
2. Go to properties
3. On top left "advanced Settings"
4. go to the Tab "Advanced"
5. under performance section click "Settings"
6. Choose Adjust for best Appearence
Click ok and ok..

Now check Personalization menu, if Aero can be enabled.
Hope it helps ;)

So testing to see if changing a theme by downloading one would work, it says "This desktop can't use this theme"
