Unfortunately I have lost my password to a computer at work. I am running Windows 7 on a Lenovo Thinkpad.
I have my recovery discs, but my thinkpad doesnt have a internal cd drive. Is there any way to copy it to a usb and boot it from there? I have tried Ophcrack, which couldnt crack the password (not more than 8 characters). Is there any other options I have? The computer does not have anything of importance, it has barely been used. So if possible I would like to swipe it clean and start a new.

It seems I do not have access to a computer with a cd drive at the moment. Is wiping the hard drive a possibility? I tried in the bios menu but it asked me for the administrators pass to continue..

As you have said this is an at work computer, so you will not have the right to reinstall Windows. You will have to contact the companies IT section & get their help. If people could just change anything on a company's computer how would they keep confidential business details from being stolen.

Thanks SIW2, Im checking out the application now. I also found Offline NT Password and Registry Editor, although I am worried about catching a virus.

The company I work for has only 3 full time employees. While we contract for IT occasionally, it is my job to get the computer open. The gentleman that set up this computer, as well as a few others was very tech savy (electrical engineer). Me not so much..

Perhaps that is why Ophcrack didnt succeed.
