Lost file long path

Hello, I try to cut and paste some files from usb drive in computer, but got that error that files have long path and operation was closed, I can`t check files, because was to many, I want to ask, did I lost files when I tried to use cut and paste and this error apear? Thanks

I am assuming this is a flash drive. No you didn't lose anything. Copy and paste to see if that works. If not drag to a coupla folders above and try. Continue to drag to above until you can salvage. Actually I would suggest plugging into a different computer.

@billmcct, hello, thank you. It is a flash drive, and want to move from it to a computer. So even if it was cut and paste, I didn`t lost any files after proces was stopped by long path banner? And how to that "If not drag to a coupla folders above and try" What do you mean by that? I am not good on computers, thank you for your time.

I am assuming you isb is fat32 which doesnt support long file names

Did you get an error like this:



Windows has a file path limit of 260 characters. Are you sure you didn't exceed that? If you get the error above you can try shortening the file and or folder names and try again.
