I am wondering if anyone else has had the issue of when restoring multiple large files from recycle bin some of them are restored and some are lost or deleted?

has happened when i tried to restore 15 avi files of about 700mb from the recycle bin

if i remember correctly i think this happened to me once with vista as well

When you delete a file, and it goes into the Recycle Bin, the data on the hard drive is not wiped clean or moved. The sectors of the hard drive the data resides on are simply marked as "free for new data".

Now, if you did not do anything with your computer that writes to the hard drive, then all of the original data would still be intact, and if you restored those files from the recycle bin they would be whole, uncorrupted, and ready to use.

But if you wait too long, and there are writes of new data to the hard drive, those sectors with the old data could be wholly or partially over-written, and now when you go to restore the files from the Recycle Bin they would be corrupted and therefore cannot be restored.

I would also check the size of the Recycle bin as to to how much space you have allocated to it. Simply right click on it go to properties and make sure you have enough space allocated on it you can always add more space just click on the custom tab.

thanks for the replys, yep i had no trouble recovering them right away with Recuva, thats a good idea about checking recycle bin size, was curious if anyone else had noticed this and if anyone knew why it would happen.
