Solved Lost Pictures!

I just downloaded some pictures from my camera and as I was going through them, I would rotate some of them...the ones I rotated have disappeared! I can't find them ANYWHERE in my computer. I looked at doing a system restore but it was goingto restore from BEFORE the pictures were put on the computer. I haven't been able to find an answer anywhere else. Please help!

In doing a search for - rotated pictures have disappeared - I was surprised that this is a common issue, and it can be caused by on board security.

You would not be running McAfee by the way, would you?

According to the link, a recent update (05-21-2011) for McAfee (Mcf) has done something to cause this effect.

Can you follow the instructions to Show hidden files in the link I provided?
After the change do you see your pix now?

Meanwhile you may want to consider removing Mcf, and installing a different security system.

I have not gone over them, that is something you need to do, and then let us know which way you want to go.

It would be helpful if you can supply the model #'s of the camera/iPhone/iPod? and what program you used to view and rotate these pix's.

Wow, this makes me notl ike McAfee anymore...I found the pictures that were hidden and then I uninstalled McAfee. Since I've uninstalled, my Library folders have popped up (didn't know those existed...). Thank you!

Skip to the last page (25) in the first Mcf link, a fix should be ready by 09-01-2011.

The second Mcf link is a (DID) Document ID: TS101228. It offers a work-around until the new update.

So you either sit tight until they fix-it or uninstall Mcf for something else.

I am a little behind you in posting.

But, why are you on the web without security?
Have you already changed to something else?

Do not forget to reverse your folder options to protect those files, folders, and drives.

Make sure Mcf is completely removed or you could have problems down the road:
How to uninstall or reinstall supported McAfee consumer products using the McAfee Consumer Products Removal tool (MCPR.exe)

The Link to the tool is listed under XP, but it is supposed to work with 7 - 32/64 .

You could also try the free version of WinPatrol.

Once you are happy with all that, then you should think about doing a full backup because if you have a bad crash and have to re-install the OS, your factory recovery partition will just re-install Mcf.
