Lost Windows Media Centre Functionality error 0x80070005

For some reason unknown to me, my Windows Media Centre will no longer work. I have checked my drivers and updated using Windows Update, to no avail. Following Microsoft instructions related to the error message I have prepared a diagnostic text file that is attached as per the MS instructions.
I would really appreciate a solution to this problem as it is making my machine almost useless to me.

Install, update and run a full scan with Malwarebytes declining the trial version unless you want to buy it later.

Run SFC /SCANNOW Command to check system file integrity.

If these are clean, go Control Panel>Programs and Features>Windows Features to Turn Off Media Center, reboot, and then Turn it back On from the same place.

Report back results.

Ifollowed the advice given and it resulted in the discovery and elimination of a few trojans, much to my surprise. However, going throught the full process i have reached a state where I still cannot get Windows Media Center going and there seem to be other weird problems that make me suspect some serious damage has been done. I am in the process of doing a Windows 7 repair, but am haning problems staying awake through all of this. I have downloaded the ISO file and unzipped it. I'll leave setting up Windows 7 again for the morning. Thanks for the help.

If the Repair Install doesn't help then I'd invest the time now in doing a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. The bloated HP Preinstall is one of the worst installs one can have, so if you don't have one then you've not even had the chance to experience native Win7 perfect performance yet.

Some recent HP models have a Minimal Recovery when you boot into F11 HP System Recovery which is almost as good as a Clean Reinstall so you might want to check that first.
