lots of BSOD, one problem to the next

Just added 4GB of DDR2 when one of my 1 GB sticks died, I did that when I upgraded to Windows 7 64-bit, to take advantage of the extra ram. I added my video card when the old one fried. That is it for added components. The system is about 4 years old, well it will be 4 years come December.

So you have one stick that is 1Gb and two sticks of 2GB?

If you added the four later... I would try removing the 1Gb stick and only running the 2x2Gb

PS... I hope you did not add 1 4Gb.... your mobo can't handle that.

3 older machines still doing fine on Linux/ubuntu but not used much anymore...
nope its 2 x 2GB, I have tried running with all combinations of RAM, none of them is defective, at least not defective enough to stop the computer from running, it just will not run games now. I did get some more BSODs last night, I can add those dumps in later tonight If i can get the PC to start.

lesson learned, never buy a PC from IBUYPOWER.com

It may be cheap but they suck at making something decent. I had a falcon Northwest that lasted me almost 7 years with only a couple upgrades
