I have been experiencing a number of crashes since I installed Windows 7. I tried to teach my self a little about debugging but not enough it seems to solve my problems. The causes of the crash seem to be "irq not less or equal" with different culprits every time. I have checked to make sure that all my drivers are up to date and I believe they are. I have a attached the dump files (4 crashed today, by far the most yet) and I would be grateful if someone with more experience could help me fix this problem. Please let me know if you need more information, I am a bit of a nube with posting to tech forums... Thanks.

System spec:
Windows 7 Professional 32-bit

Hey.

Update your chipset drivers from the motherboard manufacturer and completely uninstall Norton.
Also, you have errors related to vpcnfltr.sys and Rt86win7.sys. So uninstall any Virtualization software too along with those drivers.

Or if you're attempting to install Virtualization software, disable the network adapter(s) while doing so. Then re-enable after.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the reply, I was beginning to think I was being ignored. I will take your advice about the chipset drivers. I had uninstalled the Virtualization software a week ago, but since you said that I did some searching and found some remnents of it lurking around, which I have since deleted. Hopefully that will help.

I'm not ready to get rid of the Norton yet since I dropped $80 to get the 3 license deal. If the problem continues with Norton or I get a bsod in the next day or two I will post the minidump.

You're welcome.

I'd at least look into it to see if there's an update to whatever version you're running. Because as it is now, that $80 has bought the bsod.

torrentg,

I continued to get bsod's so I uninstalled Norton like you advised. Everything was fine for a couple days then I got another bsod. I have attached the dump file. The crash happened just after I opened Windows Media Player 12 if that makes a difference. I have a NAS (running FreeNAS) with all my music connected to my network and I have Media Player pointed at the NAS to get the music. Lately I was having problems with just the Media Player not responding and shutting down seconds after I would open it. After I deleted the library and started a new one it seemed to be fine. Now I get a bsod.

Google these drivers to see what they are and try to find updates for them:

Rt86win7 Rt86win7.sys Thu Feb 26 04:04:22 2009
spldr spldr.sys Mon May 11 12:13:47 2009
amdxata amdxata.sys Tue May 19 13:57:35 2009

Also, so many machines run better and/or are fixed by adjusting the bios manually to the correct settings specific to the RAM modules running.

You can use the spd tab of CPU-Z to find your exact RAM modules.

Then you could visit the maker's site for proper Vdimm (RAM voltage) and timings to be set.

I shouldn't tell you this, but I just got done tweaking to double my overclock shown in specs. Stable for a half hour or so now so we shall see as hours and days go. heh
